I'm inclined to think this ruling is playing out according to a plan, e.g., engage the legal system in an effort to fracture the federal judiciary more so than it is, thereby fomenting jurisdictional chaos and weakening that branch.

Can someone explain whether a federal district court ruling (such as Donnelly's stay in the eastern district federal court of NY) carries any force outside that district? I don't think it does.

So what we will be witnessing is a slow motion fragmentation of the federal judiciary along predictable ideological lines, and "baking in" the politicization of a branch that, in principle, should be objective and above politics.

This is a war on the institution. No wonder Drumpf remains silent, saying only that it's working beautifully.

While the Donnelly ruling was heartening, celebration is a bit premature, folks.
