Are you afraid we are not powerful enough to ultimately stop Drumpf*

* I used qualifiers for a reason. It will not be easy. There are more unpleasant things to come, but we will prevail. Remember the last Reich only lasted twelve years.

Are you afraid we are not powerful enough to ultimately stop Drumpf* (Original Post) DemocratSinceBirth Jan 2017 OP
Our resistance begins with DNC polls & their willingness to fight tanks with RPGs & not hand guns. uponit7771 Jan 2017 #1

... that they stop carrying shot guns to tank fights.

They should muck up the works quick fast and in a damn hurry... fuck the KGOP and Benedict Donald

The move to place Bannon at the head of the NSC is already a big tell tale we're fucked proper... that's what other big news is going through right now.

They cause a huge fire that's less damaging in other areas to pull attention to a smaller fire that's MORE damaging ...

If Dem polls don't act... HOT DAMN NOW ... in the most obstructive way possible then we're fucked

...he is going to start killing some of us to send a message. Threat of death and forfeiture of livelihood and property tends to dampen resistance very quickly.

This time next year we may have more in common with North Koreans than the people of any other country.

to Trump and his minions things will not bode well. Trump will just get the Republicans to pass a series of laws to try to make is illegal for the masses to stand up against him. When the lawsuits are filed that the laws are unconstitutional, he will just run over the judges. The Democratic Part has to get in lock step with the people in this war against Trump.

Far too often, the Democrats cave to the Republicans to be the adult in the room. Being the adult in the now entails standing up to Trump, his minions and the Republicans to try to save this country. It will get ugly and painful before it gets better. We have to be willing to accept that. If we don't, the protest will ultimately fail.

They frame it as interferring with commerce.

Make no mistake, Bannon is the on who is really in control and he is going to do what ever he wants, consequnce be damned. Trump is in this thrall. With Trump's uber thin skin I can easily see him ignoring judicial rulings. Short of a successful impeachment, Trump will do whatever Bannon urges him to do. Bannon knows how to play Trump. And Trump now has the Federal Agencies and military at his beck and call.

If our elected representatives are not equal to the task of effectively opposing this dangerous foe, it's going to be the American Revolution, all over again. I don't want to see that happen, but I won't pretend it's not occupying my thoughts, more and more each day.

Sure, Hitler only lasted 12 years, but in that time he arranged the killing of milllions upon millions of people and the virtual destruction of much of Europe and Japan.

Given the advances in technology, that much damage could be done in far less time now.

Having a modest acquaintance of history, I can see the tendrils of fascism taking over our country. Democracy is, by its nature, a reactive government form. Throughout history, dictatorships have tended to grow out of democratic systems. Was true in ancient Greece, is true in the 21st Century.

Yes, I'm afraid of Trump's ability to do lasting harm to our country. Doesn't mean I'm not going to fight back.

As for the military firing on protesters? Who knows? Across the sweep of American history, troops have been called out and have fired on striking workers. Wounded Knee ring a bell? How about Kent State?

It already seems like Trump is going to ignore judicial rulings. We have heard zilch from leadership on both sides about this. We are in the early stages of a dictatorship and once he issues executive orders to ban protests, we will be forced into submission

Trump must be neutralized and impeached.
