Did you ever buy into conservatives' supposed allegiance to "freedom"???

All the way back to the Reagan years, every other word coming out of the right-wingers' mouths seemed to be "freedom": how they valued it, how they craved it, how willing they were to fight for it, etc.

Flash forward to this hideous past week: there's all the confirmation you need that conservatives don't give a flying fuck about freedom. No, what they want is relentless authority, the crushing power of an autocratic government, and the subjugation of those who are in any way different than they are---trump is providing them with all that, and then some.

Time to take our country back from the Deplorables, folks.

Especially anyone else's freedom
Republicans only rise up and fight for power.
Their own power.
At the expense of your freedom.

That would include the freedom to oppress and generally fuck with people they don't like.

They only meant freedom to be like they think you should be. Conform. Obey.

That's not freedom.

The hardest thing about freedom is giving it to someone else.

Mostly, the RWers of the past few decades have proposed a very jingoistic, authoritarian kind of freedom.

The only part of the Constitution they consistently defend and demand no restriction on is the 2nd amendment. anything else, they either actively attack or just don't care about.

Most often, they make me feel dread. Trigger my flight response. Mute the tv, turn the channel so I don't have to see or hear them.

Hate radio is nothing but howler monkeys, can't listen to that either.

I like restrictions when it comes to a person or a business harming another person or the planet. These are the very things they want the freedom to do.
I would like to have the freedom to go to the store and get some cannabis because it has gotten me through many years of chronic pain. They would like to put me in jail for using this plant.
I would like the comfort of knowing I am in a space with a lot of people and none of them are carrying a lethal weapon. They want to have everyone carrying lethal weapons all the time everywhere.
I would like to have the freedom to know that a woman is doing what she wants with her body, they want the freedom to tell her what she can do with her body.

They want to have the freedom to bomb other countries. I do not want that done by a country where I live in because then it feels like it is being done in my name. I don't have the freedom to make them stop this barbaric nonsense.
I would like the freedom to not believe in a god. They want to have the freedom to be able to tell people there is something wrong with them if they aren't Christian.
They seem to think flying a flag makes them good citizens then they turn around and vote for some of the most restrictive government (but not environmental restrictions).

So yeah, we don't see the concept of freedom the same at all. And that is scary when they are in charge of policy.

Might as well be the freedom to choose paper or plastic.. coke or pepsi

Like when you offer your kids the "choice" between carrots or green beans..
