Heres how the world is responding to Trumps ban on refugees, travelers from 7 Muslim nations

On Friday, President Trump signed an executive order banning people from several countries — including Iran, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and Sudan — from entering the United States for 90 days. The measure also suspended admission of all refugees for at least 120 days and from Syria indefinitely.

The decision sent shock waves around the world, throwing U.S. immigration policy into chaos. In 2016, the State Department issued 617,752 immigrant visas and 10,891,745 nonimmigrant visas. About 5 percent went to people from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen. Here's how the affected countries are beginning to hit back at the legislation, along with reactions from around the world:

In Iraq, Renas Jano, a member of the parliament's foreign affairs committee, told journalists that “after the U.S. president's decision to stop granting visas for Iraqi citizens, it is very likely that Iraq will stop granting U.S. citizens entry visas.” This decision, he noted will largely impact American soldiers, diplomats and companies that do business in the country. "The reciprocal decision to stop giving visas will cause damage to a lot of people as there are large U.S. forces here to support us in our war against [the Islamic State], in addition to the presence of diplomatic personnel and U.S. businessmen." He noted that Iraqi students would also be affected. Fellow Iraqi lawmaker Majid Chenkali, a Kurdish Sunni, told reporters that his country should respond with similar visa policies for Americans. “It should be an eye for an eye,” he said.

Though nothing has been decided yet, CBS News reports that the U.S. ambassador to Iraq has warned that the Iraqi government is considering banning all American passport holders. That would include contractors working across the country.

Impose a tariff on a country's goods - they'll impose one on yours. Deny visas for a country's citizens - guess what; your citizens won't get visas for their country. And so forth. The Trumplodytes seem to think they can do whatever they damn please with impunity. Guess what, assholes. It doesn't work that way.

A global backlash against U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration curbs gathered pace on Sunday as several countries including long-standing American allies criticised the measures as discriminatory and divisive.

Governments from London and Berlin to Jakarta and Tehran spoke out against Trump’s order to put a four-month hold on allowing refugees into the United States and temporarily ban travellers from Syria and six other Muslim-majority countries, which he said would help protect Americans from terrorism.

In Germany - which has taken in large numbers of people fleeing the Syrian civil war - Chancellor Angela Merkel said the global fight against terrorism was no excuse for the measures and “does not justify putting people of a specific background or faith under general suspicion”, her spokesman said.

She expressed her concerns to Trump during a phone call and reminded him that the Geneva Conventions require the international community to take in war refugees on humanitarian grounds, the spokesman added.

Interesting scenario. Iraq bans all US passport holders including contractors, army, aid workers, etc. They are deported. It spreads to all ME countries.

The contractors fight back. More troops are sent to defend them. It escalates into a full blown war where if we win, we take their oil and sell it to the Russians. If we lose, Russia will step in the power vacuum and take over peacefully and get their oil.

We become a pariah state and the rest of the world issue sanctions against us and stop exporting goods to us and ban our exports to their country.

I would agree to invading Iraq again if only Drumpf supporters were drafted to fight in the invading army. But that will not happen. One can wish though
