If not this story, we'd be talking about the bannon appointment to security council while removing the joint chiefs.

And it is being discussed, but not in a hair on fire way, like this EO is.

So, intentional chaos? Hard to give them that much credit. Maybe just lucky chaos.

Beyond the individuals being banned, this is a swipe at the 7 countries. In an instant he has lost their cooperation. He has also hit China and Mexico. He is intentionally disrupting standing foreign policy to keep everyone and I mean everyone off balance. This is what people with his mental condition do - destabilize then control - with weapons if need be.

What does he get in the end?

He certainly won't be remembered as a great or even good president.

He's devaluing his brand and endangering properties with his name on them.

He's destroying his children's legacy.

What's he possibly aiming for?

his children are an extension of himself. There is no future except his future. If his kids, with his help, rack up the money and he has control that enables him to rake in even more money through a personal oil alliance with Russia, plus being head of the US - that makes him the ultimate winner.
He idolizes dictators, he has daddy issues, and he is mentally ill.

People with a lot of money believe they can buy their way out of anything. If, and that is a big if, he does have concern for his children, they will be able to buy their way out of problems too.

The EO is a smokescreen for the Bannon de-fanging the NSC. With Bannon, Flynn & Priebus on it, the only things it will address are the things they want to have addressed. Other things will slide by. this is what they would do if they were planning a large false-flag attack to cement Trump's dictatorial powers - a Reichstag fire, but x10.

The lack of vetting is intentional. They want to sow chaos throughout American society. It's one of the goals.

This is a Russian-directed operation to bring down the US government and throw your society into complete chaos. Putin is calling the plays; Bannon is executing them; Flynn is riding shotgun; Trump is the figurehead with the pen and the voice.

Expecting pride of country in any form from these guys is delusional. They will not stop of their own accord. No amount of political intervention or public pressure is going to work. Even the SC is a long shot IMO.

If you can't get them the country is done, over, kaput.

Don't think they factored that in.

Kelly O'donnell MSNBC reporting on tonight's WH briefing...they're telling reporters they think it's all going very well. Slight delays in moving people through airports but all good.

Dillusional and secure in their bubble.

Perhaps there aren't any TV's on in the west wing these days.

Sun Jan 29, 2017, 08:50 PM
Jan 2017

Apparently the WH is in full damage control. They called in a few reporters and "read them in", meaning gave all the relevent details, on the EO. O'Donnell was funny because she repeatedly said "this is what they said" whenever Ari Melber asked her a question, implying that she didn't necessarily believe it, just reporting what they said. Of course it was all lies that they vetted it through the OLC and the departments and worked with congress, working exactly like they thought, not many people affected etc. It was pretty obvious O'Donnell knew the briefing was a total lie.

FWIW, the next time the WH claims some policy or EO was vetted through whoever, the reporters should ask to see the "chop copy". This is the original draft that has a page with all a place for all the relevent reviewers in the chain of command to sign off, from lowest ranking to highest.

I wrote a few pieces of correspondence in my day that had to be approved by my entire chain-of-command. I got my fair share through without change, too. Once when I was a newly minted civil servant, my trainer wrote something called a "sitsum" (situation summary), but added an extra "h" to the title just to see if anyone would catch the change, but no one did and out the correspondence went with the more descriptive title. He got in a little trouble, but it was funny as heck.
