President. That is true in both houses. Since he would become President if Trump were impeached and removed, that gives them an out.

They all know this. So, I would not be surprised if that possibility is being discussed privately behind closed doors. If Trump' s behavior causes the threat of a voter revolt, the Repeblicans will impeach and remove him, I think.

That's my assessment of the situation. Thanks for reading this.

and I would guess the democratic senators and reps are probably contributing to the discussion. We can fight Pence better than the unpredictable Trump. It won't be easy, but we won't be dealing with the uncontrollable crazy.

it is hard to say as lgbt but he at least would not be in bed with Russia. And he would do what they wanted. I think Trump is a disaster for the whole world. I don't think Pence would be a disaster across the board but certainly women, gays & minorities would be in deep,, but the world wouldn't be on the verge of exploding.

in Putin's pocket. We're going to have to wait for another election to change the leadership. Trump needs to go, and soon, or that may be too late. Pence is bad, but he is not Trump.

However, we will not have a chance to elect a Democrat until 2020. Trump needs to be gone long before then. That's imperative, I think. Pence, at least, is unlikely to start a major war or do something truly destructive.

I don't like the Pence option one bit, but I don't see another option at this time.

He definitely needs to go. Actually the entire election should be re-done, due to the interference by the Russians.

If they thought they would not suffer any electoral consequences from impeaching and removing him, they would likely do it. The Repubs in Congress most definitely would rather work with Pence.

...and try to get the Dems to refuse any cooperation with impeachment. Let them go down with the ship. But of course, Trump has his finger on the Button. So maybe we should cooperate... Fuck it. We're all royally fucked no matter *what* happens. If nothing happens--well, God protect us all, because human beings sure as hell aren't up to the job. Impeach? God knows what happens *then*. Trump's die-hard supporters make up at least 30,000,000 people, and I suspect the GOP "establishment" is physically afraid for their lives if they move against Trump. (In fact, I more than suspect. A relative of mine is a player in DC Dem circles, and knows the leading people, Dem and GOP--and he tells me this is true, the McConnells and Ryans are quite literally afraid for their skins if they cross Trump.) We might see spontaneous beer-hall type uprisings all over Red America. And even if they succeed--Pence would be just as bad in many ways, and might cement GOP/far right control over the country for a generation. If Trump stays, and *doesn't* start a nuclear war--a big if--might it not be preferable if the GOP goes down with the ship, instead of presenting Pence as a "healing" figure? I honestly don't know the answer to that. But we are in a hole, and I see no good ways out...

I agree. We're talking about least worse options really. I wish I could see a third option, but I can't. I want this country to survive, with its system intact. Others may differ on that desire.
