GOP-led Congress starting to worry about its role in the Trump era
Tribune Washington Bureau TRIBUNE WASHINGTON BUREAU

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/01/gop-led-congress-starting-to-worry-about-its-role-in-the-trump-era/

The GOP establishment is experiencing whiplash after a week of President Donald Trump bulldozing through the norms of policy and protocol — dashing off executive orders without warning, escalating a diplomatic crisis with the country's closest southern neighbor, triggering global confusion with a new refugee policy and generally hijacking party leaders' agenda and replacing it with his own.

Rather than the hoped-for collaborative new relationship between the White House and Congress, GOP officials complain that Trump is brushing aside their advice, failing to fully engage on drafting tough legislative packages on tax reform and Obamacare, and bypassing Congress by relying on executive actions, something they frequently complained about under President Barack Obama.

At the same time, Trump's unilateral moves continue to blindside Republicans and direct the national focus toward topics many in the party would rather avoid, whether that's how to pay for building the border wall with Mexico, warming ties with Russia, investigating false claims about voter fraud or, most recently, implementing sweeping new policies on refugees and visas.

In the name of party unity, many Republicans so far have refrained from publicly attacking the new president. But for some, the new refugee policy crossed the line, signaling the first major rift in their already fraught partnership.

Because without warning he's getting even with the GOP. You all were downright giddy thinking you had yourselves a puppet but you forgot that you badmouthed him during the primaries.

It's gratifying to see the smirks beginning to get wiped off your faces. You are Trump's enemies and he's going to get even.

Especially with Paul Ryan. The giddiest of all.

Weird that thing about getting even with the GOP. That was my thoughts from long before that fatal day in Nov.
He is neither a Republican or a Democrat, he is all for Donald Drump f.He is really out to destroy the 'pugs and any body else that gets in his way. We live in dangerous times. Mind, after what they did to Pres. Obama, I do hope they take the 'pugs down.

He and General Flynn swallow every conspiracy theory Bannon puts out there. They seem to be quite sincere in their beliefs.

3 million illegals voted against him and made him lose the popular vote. President Obama is a Kenyan. Muslim terrorists are on airplanes right this minute trying to get into the US. Claims FOX news should be held up as an example of how to be fair to him.

He's a frigging conspiracy theorist in a big way.

Whey else would he put Bannon in such a high position? The only answer is because he believes Brennan knows the truth and tells the truth. And Trump is going to force us to "know the truth"

Congress could rein in the administration any time they wanted. But they're just sitting idly by, kvetching about all the terrible things that are happening, but not doing thing one to stop it. Their words are very clearly not matching any actions available to them. What does that tell the perspicacious observer?

They could put the brakes on anytime they wanted but have remained silent.
Even more so, they have talked about funding for an actual wall and insinuated it would only cost as little as $12 billion and be easy to pay for it. We all know that is insane and would cost a lot more than that. More proof Congress is in someone else's pocket.
