Really? Trump voters are starting a boycott against Starbucks this morning?

#boycottstarbucks is trending among trump supporters according to Business Insider: http://www.businessinsider.com/starbucks-boycott-after-ceos-refugee-support-2017-1

My trump-loving relatives are rural and there isn't a Starbucks within 30 miles AND they call anything that is not Folgers Coffee "high falutin' and librul."

ON EDIT: They are boycotting because the Starbucks CEO promised to hire refugees.

I only get a dark roast. No lattes, just coffee. Two cups, two-fitty. Have people I know and always great conversations. I like coffee out,, always loved it, the social thing. Way back since Java City first opened in Sacramento (pre Starbucks here). I now get my coffee mostly at a deli, coffee shop that is family owned and run. But sometimes that group gets a bit testyn(Trump supporters) so I go a few days at Starbucks. Once in a while, Petes. I make a cup at home, before I go out. French press (the only way to make coffee) some French roast. Cream and a spoonful of agave. Yum. Nothing matches that, but that don't get me close to people.

None of them have jobs because of Obummer's crappy economy. Add to that the fact that red states are the biggest recipients of "welfare" which also is too meager to afford a luxury like Starbucks.

They're also lazy because they're already boycotting Starbucks because of the War On Christmas and Starbucks' Atheist Coffee Cups.

Fucking GOPee-ers can't do anything right. Boycotts on things the both already boycott and can't afford anyway. Small "crowds" at their Big Events. Misspelled signs at their, again, shitty little protests.

Reminds me of a very racist "joke". Punch line, modified for relevancy:

Man: "You mean to tell me all the bigots are gone, the Tea Party is dead and there's no more MAGA hats?
Genie: "Yes, now what is your wish?"
Man: "Hell, I'll have a Starbucks!"

I assumed it was exit polls, but wasn't sure. Thanks for that link.

25k polled is like....thousands of one percent of voters? IMO, those numbers are not at all indicitive of the bigger picture of income levels of the typical voters. Looking at census info, just on a state by state basis, over 65% of the states he won have lower than average household incomes. Her states it's 2%.

The other poster was maybe being a little facetious in saying they can't afford Starbucks, but overall, their income levels are definitely lower than Clinton voters. It wouldn't surprise me if he had more over-100k voters than her, but that is not by any means the majority of his voters' income levels.

I couldn't find info on demographic breakdowns except for that exit poll you gave a link to (I'm sure it's out there but within the first few pages of Google nothing else came up but that exit poll or articles based on that exit poll). I just can't get my head around 25k being a representative sample, so I did some research.

Utah, which was the 2nd highest median income of all of Trump states (Alaska was his highest but their result breakdowns by county wasn't as easy to access as Utah's), here are some 2014 numbers on a county level:

Trump counties had an average median income of $49.8k
Clinton counties had an average median income of $76.9k

Trump counties had an average of 11.9% of $100k+ earners
Clinton counties had an average of 29.2% of $100k+ earners

https://www.irs.gov/uac/soi-tax-stats-county-data-2014
http://www.census.gov/quickfacts/table/PST045216/00
https://electionresults.utah.gov/elections/countyCount/300000

I'm going to see what other states I can easily access info by county just to see if this bears out. I mean, it bears out on the state level, and the county level for this one state at least. I'm actually really interested to know if it bears out across the board.

If you have other info besides that exit poll I'd be really interested in it. Or, if you have info on percentages of low-income people who don't vote or anything along those lines, please share.

Not least of which is they showed Clinton winning. Of course she did win the popular vote, but I believe they also had her ahead in key states she lost.

Another point to keep in mind is that Clinton drew a large portion of votes from people of color, who average lower incomes than white voters.

there would be people who would boycott them. If they thought it would come anywhere close to hurting them they would not be doing what they are going to do. So for those who are boycotting it does not make a difference to Starbucks. Think of it this way also, those of us who do like to go there will now run less risk of having to run into a miserable trumper and ruin our coffee experience.

then they will make up some excuse to go to starbucks and complain about the people working behind the counter, regardless of their place of origin.

Then after a few weeks, they will then go in to starbucks as if nothing happened.

while the right wing loves to say they are all united and follow marching orders blah blah blah, they crumble very soon, because they one thing that over rules any right wing marching orders is the individual right wing mouth breath is, at the end of the day, a uniquely selfish person.

If you want to understand them then you have to dispense with all logic and reason (except for the segment of them that profits off of their stupidity) and you have to FEEEEEEEL.

They used to say that about us, but the reality they are all emotion. The emotions they ascribe to us are empathy and compassion. The emotion that floats their boat is hate.

I just finished trying to tell a friend that his "argument" that OPEC cut production when President Obama was inaugurated wasn't an argument. He got pretty pissed off at me, asking him to please get to his point.

They are beyond the looking glass, and emboldened by stealing this election.

Of course, it will still fail. I think I might stop by Starbucks for a chocolate chunk cookie on my way home tonight.

10,000 refugees worldwide, including those who worked as translators FOR America. Yeah, boycott that, geniuses.

And, I've never been in a StarBucks in my life.

Because last time, their "boycott" was giving their name as "trump" to force the baristas to shout it.

If they're going the fuck away, I might consider hitting a 'bucks when I need caffeine. (I have multiple coffee options because amazingly, liberal communities are great for small businesses. Who knew?)

Well, if this boycott is anything like their last boycott, Starbucks will be fine. Last time they went to Starbucks, bought coffee, and signed Trump's name on the cups.

over every single cup the company has designed. I doubt any Starbucks will notice much of a drop in sales.

I wish I could choke coffee down, I'd be a patron from now on.
