Bissonnette likes the Facebook pages of U.S. President Donald Trump and French far-right leader Marine Le Pen, but he does not express support for them elsewhere on his page. Other likes include the Israel Defense Forces, United With Israel and Parti Québécois of Université Laval.

He also likes U.S. Senator John McCain, a moderate Republican who has opposed Trump on some issues, President George W. Bush, the Canadian New Democratic Party and late Canadian politician Jack Layton, who was a leader of the left-wing NDP, so the likes do not shed much light on Bissonnette’s beliefs.

But it appears the heavy article has more detail since I read it this morning.

I know plenty of DUers and former DUers that "like" RW Republicans just so they can go to their Facebook pages and antagonize RW Republicans.

A glance at their page will show expressions of sympathy toward the Muslim victims of the mosque shooting.

Does this counterbalance his following 2 fascists like Donald Trump and Marion LePen?

Bissonnette studied political science at the University of Laval.

Jean-Michel Allard-Prus, a fellow student, told Le Journal de Quebec that he often talked politics with Bissonnette.

“He has political ideas on the right, pro-Israel, anti-immigration,” Allard-Prus said. “I had a number of debates with him about Trump. He was obviously pro-Trump.”

Initially, police said there were two suspects and media named the other as Mohamed Khadir, reportedly in his 30s. He was detained near the mosque minutes after the shootings that took place when the building was packed for evening prayers.

But in breaking development on Monday, Quebec police said only one of the men was a suspected shooter and the other was a witness. Quebec media reported that Bissonnette is the suspected shooter.

There were early reports that suggested the shooter may have been Muslim. Those turned out not to be true. A witness went on the record saying they heard the shooter shout Allahu Akbar, so either that person lied or the shooter said that as a cruel joke or something. In either case, it seemed from those reports that the shooter may have been Muslim.

Now it seems that the shooter may be a white supremacist. But I am not sure that that can be gleaned definitively from Facebook likes (which are a bit all over the place). Maybe more info will emerge to clarify things.
