Washington state plans to sue Trump over immigration orders
Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson will challenge President Donald Trump's restrictive immigration order in federal court on behalf of the state.
Ferguson said he plans to file a lawsuit Monday against Trump, members of Trump's administration and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
The lawsuit is in response to Trump's executive order Friday directing a 90-day ban on admissions and re-entry into the U.S. for non-citizens from predominantly Muslim countries Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen. The order also blocks refugees.
Ferguson said the lawsuit will claim key provisions of the order are unconstitutional. Ferguson has already requested a temporary restraining order to halt the ban.
