Oregon Newspaper Publishes Letter Calling for the Shooting of Protesters

I live in the county where this letter was published. Oregon has a blue population but a red geography. I have a 13 yo granddaughter and a 15 yo grandson living with me and I have to say it is getting very painful to see them struggling to understand the enormity of what's happening to their community and their country. What do you say when they ask you "what's going to happen?".

"Protests and protestors [sic] have been around for a long time," reads the letter. "Socialists never rest. They ruined Russia, Greece and England, among others. We can expect to see their best efforts to bring down the United States continuing."
Stafford goes on to write about the Kent State massacre, saying, "The National Guard was brought in, fired on the 'peaceful student' protestors [sic]. A news photographer took a great photo of a grieving young woman at the body of a young man."

"Further investigation found they were not students but paid rabble-rousers," Stafford continues.

There is no evidence that this is true. Four people were killed, and nine wounded, during the shooting by members of the Ohio National Guard on Kent State students protesting the Vietnam War on May 4, 1970. All were students in good standing at the university.

"How about we shoot a few of this year's crop -- say a dozen at each protest to see how many were bussed [sic] in, paid well," Stafford writes. "Of course, we will give all samples an absolutely free same-day burial at sea."

1. Law enforcement should be called. This goes FAR beyond freedom of the press to incitement.

If this was in a paper in my state I would not rest until it was acted against.

2. You'd have to start by protesting the Sheriff. He's a leading national Birther Believer and

publicly refuses to enforce Oregon's gun show background check law. Oregon has a few Sheriff problems out in the hinterland. Public outcry got the letter removed by the newspaper, but obviously damage already done. Do I have confidence the Sheriff paid Mr. Stafford a courtesy visit? No I do not. But I agree this must be seen through.

8. My adult, disabled, queer daughter (their mother) lives with me, too. Their father, a green carded

immigrant from Brasil, is in the community as well. We had both of our BLM signs stolen this fall from deep inside our curtilage. Concern for safety literally grows hourly.

many other campuses, we attached bull's eye targets on our backs as we walked between classes. Alt-facts are the hallmark of the enemy.
