Let's say You and I are Republican Congressional Leaders..

Just for a moment... Imagine.
What do we do with the new President Trump? Steve Bannon is out of control and Trump is tweeting like crazy. Mocking Democratic leaders and putting out Executive Orders without telling us., or even giving us a heads up on what is coming...so..What do we do????

..Here is what I think is happening. (I have no clue, of course) If I was Republican leadership, I would warn Trump that he is doing things that are impeachable. Before serious action, take ever single step possible to try to stop what seems to be an out of control situation. Every step that can be thought of. Talking to those who have complete access to President Trump..whoever and wherever they may be. A systematic approach to trying to control and change what seems to be a kind of self destructive path to impeachment.

..I believe we are still in this stage as far as Republican leadership is concerned. What day is it? Day 11 or 12?.. Republican leadership will try to change and quiet the situation. Then, if change does not happen in a way that appears stable and for the nation's interest, action will be taken. It will be swift, precise, and complete.....but... we are not there yet, as far as Republican Congressional Leadership is concerned...We, the Republican Leaders will go there if we must, but this is only the 2nd week. Lets give him a chance to change, before the most drastic steps are taken...
.....that is what I think is happening, and that is why it appears that Republican Congressional leaders are standing with the new President. They are, as this is written, .. trying to change and correct a situation which may be impossible to change. At least they are trying before they take other more drastic steps...And they will continue trying this tactic...for a while....

Those imaginary Republicans with a conscience would have been the same ones that would have stuck a pin in the bubble of Trump's campaign when it became crystal clear he was making common cause with racists, anti-semites, and Nazis and fawning over Putin.

They didn't stand up then, probably because they don't exist.

Yes, they might have been able to stop the campaign..That is gone, and this is now. They exist and in my opinion they are working behind the scenes to change the direction of this president. We will see if they will be successful. But I believe they are trying very hard to do this. Why? Because Republican leadership know the consequences of this behavior and these actions. So far, some of these actions have been extremely self destructive and dangerous.. Stopping this and encouraging more sensible action is what is happening now.

Cornyn - Senate Republican whip. Hensarling - Chaiman of the House Finance committee (and T-party darling)

If I were in the GOP leadership, I'd first go to confession and then do 100,000 Our Fathers or Om Manis or whatever to purify out my immoral corruption. Next, I'd round up about a dozen Rep leaders and go quietly and confidentially to the WH and tell Trump to get his act together, dismiss Bannon immediately, straighten up and fly right, or face impeachment. Make Trump understand that his policies are really hurting Wall St and corporate profits. I'd wave the written, but not yet submitted, bill of impeachment before his face and tell him his brand will be ruined forever if he gets impeached.
