No - Bannon does not need Senate confirmation to sit on the Principals Committee at NSC

Palmer Report is clickbait, and Jeff Alter is not as credible as Laurence Tribe:

The law isn't obscure but it dsn't require Senate confirmation to serve on the Principals Committee, which isn't part of NSC as such.

Laurence Tribe is currently on a group that is suing Trump over the enmouluents clause, so he's a reliable source on what Trump is doing in the legal realm:

I never accept anything posted without further research, and I never use them as a link/source. It's just some dude posting his opinion.

7. So the question is - what was he actually appointed to.

Early (and many continuing) reports said he was appointed to the National Security Council itself.

9. That was incorrect - he was invited to the Principals Committee, which is not the NSC as such

Which is a seat at the council - you must be invited, and normally only Generals are.

GWB was very strict about not inviting political advisors, Obama less so, but they could not speak.

"The committee is a Cabinet-level group of agencies focused on national security that was established by President George H. W. Bush in 1989."

He was included in meetings of the Principals Committee. Here's a link to the memo; the relevant information is at the top of page four:

The PC shall have as its regular attendees the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Defense, the Attorney General, the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, the Assistant to the President and Chief Strategist, the National Security Advisor, and the Homeland Security Advisor. The Director of National Intelligence and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff shall attend where issues pertaining to their responsibilities and expertise are to be discussed. The Counsel to the President, the Deputy Counsel to the President for National Security Affairs, and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget may attend all PC meetings.

10. Tribe is correct, this more bad reporting or intentional lies from the media

One just has to look at the make up of the National Security Council to see that not all members are confirmed by the Senate:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_National_Security_Council#Membership

WH Chief of Staff, National Security Advisor, Assistant NSA, WH Counsel, Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, Homeland Security Advisor are all on the National Security Council and do not require Senate confirmation.

Took me less then 5 minutes to research this issue to find out that the media is either: incapable of basic research or lying again.

11. Yes - that is exactly my point. We can't expend energy chasing rainbows and telling our Senators to.

Too many here are perfectly willing and even eager to believe anything that is posted that makes Trump look bad without ever bothering to do some basic research to see if the story is even true.
