My ex-military RW relatives response to all of this...

..."We suffered through 8 years of Obama. Your turn".

I will almost relish the day tRump cuts veteran retirement disability, and health care benefits.
I real don't wish this but damnit they are so arrogant.

They actually think this is equal somehow.

presidency we were living under a dictator.

To hear them babble on you'd think there were tanks in the streets of their neighborhood with Obama's picture on them. All their freedoms have been taken away!

There is, of course, no evidence of anything like this, but they are living in a dystopian nightmare created by the RW propaganda machine to divert their attention from the dystopian reality the Republicans are trying to legislate at every turn.

Propaganda works. And it is much easier to fool people that to convince them they've been fooled.

What, exactly, did he do that was so terrible? I'm just asking this rhetorically, not of you, because I've heard this a number of times.

Under the Bush menace, there were real tangible things to complain about, namely, a stolen election, bad SCOTUS picks (really bad, as it turns out), 9/11, two invasions, the Great Recession, and the near-loss of a great American city during Hurricane Katrina.

Other than some people who don't want to pay into the healthcare system, I don't get where this 'suffering' comes from. Not to mention, Obama won the popular vote very handily, twice, while Trump lost it handily.

Did they lose their jobs? Did their stocks lose value? Were their guns taken away? Did they have to drink dirtier water or breathe dirtier air? Were they prevented from traveling? Were they prevented from going to the church of their choice? Were they sent to jail or otherwise punished for criticizing the president?

I'd really like to know how they suffered.

They want us to shut up. Did they shut up after O's win in 2008? Joe Wilson screamed out "you lie" during O's first SOTU speech. Mitch Turtle had already resolved to try to make O a one-termer before the 2010 elections. And let's go back to look at the magnitude of O's win in 2008 ( remember the Dems increased their majorities in Congess in that election). Go - look it up. O swamped Trump by every metric in both 08 and 12. More pop vote, more EC. So, I would tell your relatives to shut their fucking pie holes. Seriously, tell them to pound grass.

Then when they get into power they're tyrants.
I never want anyone to "suffer". But they seem to revel in inflicting discomfort.

Trump appears to be doing things "to" the population instead of doing "for" us as our main civil servant. He's drunk with power.

Trump seems to be a pro-military guy. Look for him to improve veteran's health care and retirement benefits, and increase military spending so they all get the newest doohickys and whizbangs they can get off on. So then he can send them into battle with the latest and greatest equipment. And offer his condolences to their families when they come home in a box...

Their idea of suffering is: Not being allowed to pick on others for no reason.

We may not be able to eliminate them from society but ...

We should ALL (that is ALL) be able to agree that their attitude is unacceptable and deserves no place is public discourse.

The fact that we can't do that is simply down to ... about half of us just suck.

Irregardless we have 4 more years of this. Just resist and try to educate them.

On that I know it's almost impossible. My father and a big chunk of my family are rural community trumpsters. They spread misinformation all the time. Trump could take a dump in them and they would be happy. It's truly an us vs them mentality

that living through 8 years of a non-Aryan president constituted their suffering.

But everyone who didn't vote for Hillary Clinton needs to suffer a whole lot over the next 4 years. They need to suffer every possible consequence of having the president they wanted. I only wish that a lot of those on the right side weren't going to suffer, too.
