I care about the outing of Valerie Plame, which put the lives of U.S. agents and their contacts abroad in jeopardy.
I care about the exit polls that did not match the vote tallies in 2004 Ohio.
I care about the death of J. H. Hatfield.
I care about Don Siegelman.
I care about the Nixon era CREEP-y dirty tricks that Rove played back ion the early 1970s.
I care that he used Katrina to ethnically re-engineer Louisiana and that he used the Katrina relief fund as a political slush fund.
I care that he participated in the Big Lies that lead us to war in Iraq.
I care that he fired hard working federal attorneys and replaced them with political hacks.
But, I don't care whom he sleeps with. The GOP slimes with sex. I am a Democrat.

(108,903 posts)to me it's left wing homophobia -- bad man = gay with no real substantiation.
not at all unlike the old {m}ann coulter stupidity that was ever so popular on du.
we never can seem to kill this one though.

(62,325 posts)It's the Right that will care which is why many of them do not have the courage to exercise their right to sleep with whoever they want.
Karl Rove is a coward. And a liar, a cheat, a criminal and he should be in jail.
It is the cowardly part that would cause him to try to hide something that is perfectly normal because he knows he represents the most bigoted segments of this society. He's good at calling Democrats cowards.

Since GOP politics is simply self-hatred projected outward -- it's all projection, really -- it's worth knowing what really makes them tick.
Ultimately, yes, who cares?
Except, right now, the GOP cares, and Rove cares, and much of his discontent, rained down on the rest of us (because he serves the powerful) stems from his internal conundrums.

(21,925 posts)but maybe the looney tunes fundamentalists do care. Karl Rove still has boundless energy left to do more evil. I hope this development causes right wingers to drop him like a hot potato and remove him from the picture. If people turned on Rove because they found out he was a serial killer and cannibal or because he has sex with chickens, what's important to me is that the evil turd cease to have any power or say in politics.

Karls Rove Secret: Bushs "Architect" Launched Anti-Gay Marriage Campaign After Burying Gay Father
http://www.democracynow.org/2006/11/2/karls_rove_secret_bushs_architect_launched
Karl Rove, who was key to making gay marriage a wedge issue in the 2004 election, accuses Obama of doing the same.

Bush poised to ban gay marriage, says adviser

Karl Rove, President Bush's senior adviser, was the Salvation Army's first White House contact in its effort to win approval of a regulation allowing religious charities to practice anti-gay workplace bias, administration officials said yesterday.

WOLF BLITZER, CNN ANCHOR: Should gays be allowed to serve openly in the military? ROVE: I must admit that I'm a proponent of don't ask, don't tell. I want to listen to military leaders and find out what they think the consequences will be for our military but I'm unmoved as of today.

(81,101 posts)In THAT case, I care about it a lot. I care about it as far as it might enable us to stoke flames of opposition against him. Wouldn't it be beautiful if that were to turn his own party against him?
It's like getting Al Capone for income tax evasion. Nobody could touch him on anything else that he did that was FAR more heinous and criminal. He somehow skated away from all of that. It was some side issue that finally sent him to prison. YES you couldn't be more spot-on about all the other shit kkkarl rove has perpetrated. He's got the dirtiest hands in DC. And he needs for justice to be served, several hundred thousand times over. Starting with at least 500 times, for every vote Al Gore got in Florida MORE than george w. bush, and proceeding from there. Whatever the mechanism or fine print or minor detail might be that finally takes him down - THAT'S what I care about. And frankly, I think it's HIGH time somebody on their side gets slimed with sex, BIGTIME. Because I can get firmly behind payback, too. All the others seem to be able to get away with it. Whatever happened to larry "wide stance" craig, for example? Whatever happened to john ensign? ANYTHING???? Besides the usual chorus of crickets chirping, that is? Taste of their own medicine. See how they like it. And I would LOVE to see some of kkkarl rove's own toxic methods turned back around on him. It would be a great service to this country.
I've said it many times before - I'm as machiavellian as the next guy. And I'm not one bit ashamed to admit it. I respect your principled stand on this, but as for me, I don't freakin' care what methods are used to nail one of the bad guys. All I care about is that the bad guy gets nailed!!!! NONE of those other absolutely true crimes you list on kkkarl rove's ignominious ledger have stuck to him. He's skated away from it all - to fame and wealth and tremendous power.
Nobody's luck holds out forever. I am a Democrat too. And I happen to believe we need a few of those demon schemers working FOR us and against the enemy, not against us and benefiting the enemy. I don't think our side does NEARLY enough. And we wind up getting rolled again and again and again. This is politics. It ain't Sunday school. And because we insist on arming ourselves with feather dusters when we're forced into a gun fight, we wind up taking it in the shorts most of the time. These guys are on a roll now. And they HAVE TO be stopped if we love our country and what it stands for and what we all grew up believing in, about our country.
WHATEVER hurts him, hobbles him, or knocks him the fuck OUT of the game and OUT of power and into obscurity and impotence for the rest of his miserable life - I'm all for.

(163,986 posts)Aside from putting principle in jeopardy, it doesn't work. They rationalize whatever it is they attack us for when it is one of their own.
Because they don't really care about the issue, whatever it is -- being gay, having an abortion, being a person of color, whatever. Their goal is to attack and destroy in any way possible. Their minds don't work like ours do.

Who he chooses to have sex with doesn't make one bit of difference, nor is it any of my business.
Though I will admit to a vague feeling of pity for anyone who would actually be intimate with a person like that.

(7,809 posts)the multitude of articles he wrote on what Rove kept in the WH basement.
Not for the squeamish, as usual...but prescient, in a way, and certainly funny.
On a more relevant point...there has long been the suspicion that Rove planted flyers around Texas intimating that the incumbent governor, Richards, was a lesbian. This could end up being added to the long, long list of republican hypocrisy....people in power who casually use fear and polarization to fundraise and GOTV while hiding aspects of their own lives that pertain to the issue. Sick...and not in a Rude Pundit way, but in a truly offensive and immoral way.

(3,596 posts)I am tired of closeted gay or bi-sexual men that advance and support policies that discriminate and HARM other gay men.
The hypocrisy is equal to any other crime he has committed. Whether it was an actual crime or not is irrelevant. I am tired of the Ted Haggards, the Ken Melmans, etc. They participate in a campaign of hatred and demonization against their own kind. The psychology of this is palpable.
Anyway....I am just sitting back and waiting to see how the sparks fly from this one. I do not yet know what legs this has but it will be fun to see...
