The Republican Immigrant "Raids" You Won't See

While President Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress continue to stoke racial tensions and dangerous white nationalistic fervor through with their xenophobic rhetoric, and now this week, the ordering of "raids" on a small, selective group of illegal aliens, it's what they are not doing that makes their true agenda all too clear.

For if Trump and company were truly serious about removing the "dire threat" of illegal immigration, only one question needs to be asked; where are the raids of the big-agro and big-food industry corporations who personally employ millions of undocumented immigrants workers on their farms each year?

Or how about the parking lot of the average Home Depot, where illegal immigrants commonly huddle together in the early morning hoping to find a days work installing Home Depot carpets and flooring? Seems scooping them up by the dozens would be quite simple.

More importantly, and as everyone knows, cutting off employment opportunities is the only way to truly stop the flow of illegal immigration.

But I'm guessing we won't be seeing these raids anytime soon, that would hurt the pockets of big Republican donors. I guess national security has a price.

Having lived out in the mountains above the San Joaquin Valley where agriculture rules, the CA economy would collapse if they didn't have migrant workers. You see big bus loads being brought into the orchards and fields outside Fresno. And on Fridays, you see long lines of people sending money back home. When I was doing a bunch of work on my farm, the contractor was a Mexican American citizen, but hired several undocumented folks to do the hard work like digging post holes. These were hard-working men looking to make an honest living.

Its not just the large white run companies that hire them.

near a national park or any concession in any national park and you will find almost NO American workers, most will be Russian J1 temps. Half of them are pretty girls - my friend from a former soviet bloc country says they are mostly prostitutes - looking for American husbands, many are probably spies.

It's hard to get a decent paying job in a tourist town because J1s only get minimum wage, take 2 or 3 jobs and the employers get a tax break on top of it. About 1/3 of the women do stay in the US past their visa expirations and find husbands within a year, many after getting pregnant.
