It may be more difficult that it should be to get rid of Trump.

It seems like an obvious no brainer that he who has no brain should be removed but...

Thursday's insane press conference, which confirmed definitively that he shouldn't be president, confirmed to his vocal base that that he will be the best president in history.

Limbaugh on Trump: ‘This Was One of the Most Effective Press Conferences I Have Ever Seen’

It's been revealed that the purpose of the conference was not to let him bloviate but to whip up his base so they will start pressuring their Republican representatives to support him and it seems to have worked very well towards that aim.

He is having a rally today to continue to stir up the mob and we can expect more and more of this in the coming days.

This is his primary defense against impeachment because no matter how strong the legal evidence against Trump becomes, it will be very difficult to get the Republicans to turn against him as long as he keeps these imbeciles worked up.

And that is the one thing he is very, very good at.

I heard the information about Trump/Bannon "firing up the base" from the Hartmann program. He cited an "alt.statedept" site from which reported state department employees, ex- or otherwise, are providing analyses of the Trump Administration's moves. It's totally believable.

Would be for the Democrats to take control of both houses of Congress in 2018. That is what we need to be working for.

If it was easy it would take place often. In fact, Obama would have been removed. Trump's behavior is far outside of our experience because we generally expect a president to be smart, compassionate, classy, and cautious with language. This is the same image he presented when he campaigned largely as the anti-politician, having none of the qualities I mentioned. "A candidate just doesn't say such things, and win elections" was what I was thinking during the primary and general elections.

This administration knows exactly what they are doing. Using insecurity about the election process to encourage more voting restrictions. That also encourages people to support the round ups and turning away immigrants. And, the republicans know he has tea party folks and other bigots fired up at dangerous levels. I am sure that they are not forgetting what it all means in a culture that values guns and hate more than people.

A weird metaphor I thought of was this really dumb song about a working man's hero from the 70s. The guy is telling his down on his luck story about his crappy job and his refrain is "take this job and shove it." The at the end he goes all out and says "take this job and stick it."

I really think that Trump's language and presentation appeal to the same people.

If you can tolerate it.

If and only if the Republicans get fed up and are absolutely terrified that despite all their election tampering, they will lose heavily in the 2018 midterms to the point of losing their Congressional majorities---THEN they will find a string of "high crimes and misdemeanors" he has committed. The Republicans control the House and its Judiciary Committee. Only they can impeach a president. They will do it if they fear him to be a fatal liability. Barring that, being a Republican president, to them, he walks on water, no matter who he kills.
