Friends in Albuquerque just posted ICE has roadblocks in South Valley Albuquerque

and 98the street. This is so sick.

"A friend's US citizen mother - 85 years old had ICE come to her door and demand her papers. Her mother has been naturalized for over 30 years. This happened in Albuquerque this week."

2. Sounds like it's beginning.

There will be horrible mistakes made. People will die. This is a very bad thing for our country.

11. Probably some truth in that. He underestimated NM before. After rally, he had to sneak out the back

These people dont mess around when they are mad and insulted. He is fucking with the wrong people here.
Real sense of family and ethnic pride, and not afraid to fight, if necessary.

9. I wasn't aware that Albuquerque was within 100 miles of the US border

This is getting out of hand... I lived in Southern Arizona and my commute to work passed through these checkpoints. I hated them then and I believe them to be unconstitutional (but the SCOTUS disagreed). But the were limited to being within 100 miles of the border.

12. The thing that people forget about NM

is that it was decidedly a Native American place, then the Spanish from Mexico arrived in the 1500's, and then the Americans in the early 1800's. There are more people of Spanish (Hispanic) heritage here (whether from the original Spanish or the constant migration from Mexico and elsewhere) than from the American Anglo movement.

The fact that ICE is having any focus in NM is bound to have repercussions.
