I hope that company suffers deeply for its stupidity. Apparently, it needed those employees, and now doesn't have them. Good luck to them in replacing them in that backwater town.

But if a company is in an area where workers are a surplus it's easier to fire those who won't work and replace them the same day with people who will.

And it does ultimately say something about the ownership of this company.

When you don't show up to work you get fired. When those workers made the choice of standing up for their beleifs in the form of not coming to work they knew the exact thing at stack, their jobs. I'm glad they stood up but I'm not mad at the employer for doing what they had to do economically.

The owner states he needed them very badly. So he fires them for missing
one day for a very good reason. Obviously, he didn't need them since now he
has 18 less workers. That makes zero sense, as does your defense of this
bigoted asshole.

to protest who didn't get fired throughout the nation? The employer didn't win by firing them, unless the point was to chill any notion that people should organize and fight for their rights, and even then, I would suggest this decision only catalyzes such a movement.

It's not like the company was likely to see another strike any time soon, and now they need 12 new employees.

We had a none union strike. The reason strikes are effective is because it shows the company they need the workers just as bad if not more so than the workers need the company.

It is basic attrition who at lasts who. Can they can continue to fill those empty positions and fire people who protest via strike? I don't know but anyone who does not believe that was the goal of this demonstration is either miss guided or dumb.

That company played directly into the hands of the people who started this wether either side knows it or not.

They were terminated because they didn't come to work. If they were going to be terminated for their political beleifs they would have found a reason long ago to fire them.

What a shocker!

Calling in or no-show on a busy retail day/weekend = you're fired.
Granted, some employers are more assholish than others and I get it, they are firing specifically due to employee activism.

Nonetheless every day employers fire countless retail/food service slaves for calling in sick/absent for any old dang reason.
In any case, it does piss me off and no, it shouldn't be allowed.

This example does show the embarrassing lack of workers rights in this country.
