Trump Waste Of Taxpayer Money Sets A New Record With 4th Weekend Trip To Florida

Source: PoliticusUSA, by Jason Easley

President Trump will once again spend the weekend at his Florida private club, as his 4th straight taxpayer funded trip will set a record by spending more money on travel in a month than former President Obama spent in a year.

Ken Vogel of Politico reported that Trump is heading back to Palm Beach, FL to meet with donors, “The party’s biggest donors are gathering in Palm Beach for a retreat organized by the Republican National Committee, and the president has been announced as the featured speaker, according to people with knowledge of the plans. A number of senior administration officials will also attend the retreat, the people familiar with the planning said, a key draw for the donors.”

Taxpayers will now be paying for Donald Trump and senior administration officials to meet with Republican donors in Florida. It is not a coincidence that the RNC is holding the donor retreat on the weekend in the same city as Trump’s private club.

When makes President Trump makes his fourth trip to his club in Florida, he will have spent more money on those trips alone ($13 million) than former President Obama spent during an entire year on travel ($12.1 million).

If the Secret Service stays there he might be charging the U.S. government. However, the Secret Service could find a local rental that is close by and stay at the rental. That is what they did when President Obama went to Hawaii. Trump's staff members can either stay at Mar-A-Lago or at some other hotel, but as far as I know the government does not pay for their lodging; they have to pay with their own money. Based on all recent reporting, Trump still owns Mar-A-Lago. I do not know if he is charging the government. What charges are you asking about? Charging the government for what?

maximum amount that is a government approved rate. They examine each state and may divide a state into regions with different GSA rates. The Federal Government should not be paying more then the GSA rate. If payment is made directly between a Government and a hotel/motel/Trump Property then the Federal Govt shouldn't even pay taxes on the room.

I want to know what Trump is charging the Federal Govt for lodging for his Staff, SS, and so on. I doubt that he adheres to the GSA rate. If he is charging more than the GSA rate, they should be required to reimburse the Govt for the over payment.

I am a state employee and if we stay in a hotel that charges more than the GSA rate we are expected to pay the difference between the hotel charge and the GSA rate. The only exception is if you can prove that the hotel is a conference hotel. I doubt 45's travel would meet that qualification.

NOT!

They were always complaining about Obama going on vacation and playing golf. Trump has already played golf six times and likes to venture to his club in Florida. He is going to spend way more than Obama but Lumpy and company will never cover it. Hypocrites deluxe.

We need a reinstatement of The Fairness Doctrine......that would end Fox News.

You know, I'm beginning to think that despite all their "fiscally responsible" rhetoric, Republicans really don't give a flying fig about government spending when it's spent on them.
