Dear Democrats, Stop Running Against Trump. Run against the Republicans.

Running against Trump is a losing proposition until 2020. Instead, the Democrats need to start making the case against the Republicans in Congress for failing to completely investigate Trump, for failing to offer an alternative to the ACA that includes the benefits of the ACA, for failing to block Trump's cabinet appointments, for failing to deliver on anything substantive with their power in congress. Every time a Democrat goes on TV, they need to call out the congressional Republicans, not Trump.

Some might ask, "why not do both?" The answer is that going after Trump now does nothing for the Democrats in 2018 because Trump won't be on the ballot. The Democrats need to give the American people a compelling reason to vote for them, and that reason is that the congressional Republicans aint doing shit about the important issues. Splitting that focus on Trump weakens their 2018 message. After 2018? Have at Trump all that you want.

But 2018 comes first.
