10. Of course it is.

But the party has been killed at the state legislative level due to low turnout. I would love to see us take back some statehouses in 2018. Keeping control of the Delaware Senate is a good place to start though.

24. Of course it is.

"But the party has been killed at the state legislative level due to low turnout."

I'm happy that she won as well, but what you're saying cannot be overlooked:

Dems really have to start getting out to vote during off-year elections, which is the ONLY way we make inroads into winning back some of these statehouses that thuglicans have had sewn up for too long.

40. Yes, apparently double the normal for special elections.

"Not only did Dems hold the Senate in Delaware today, turnout was roughly double a normal special election."

If we win Georgia...OMG...in the initials of my teen.

45. Yes PLEASE!!!

YES!!!!! Seems to me that'd be proof of changing times.

That said, it would also mean the Koch brothers and Shel Adelson and Peter Thiel and the rest of 'em would have to open their checkbooks a lot more aggressively. Which means WE CANNOT DROP OUR GUARD. Not even for a nanosecond. We CANNOT let this make us complacent!

That momentum will only sustain as long as WE stay strong and KEEP IT GOING!!!

5. When I refreshed, it was up to 34%.

I don't think that is a bad turnout for a special election.

11. Unfortunately, people don't realize that local and state races....

have far more effect on their day-to-day lives than national races do. Property tax, sales tax, unemployment eligibility and payments, education funding, highway laws and enforcement: all these and more are regulated at the state level and yet people don't turn out. Everyone should be far more familiar with their state representatives than those holding national offices.

They said our polling place had been constantly busy all day (Newark). She looked so tired when I shook her hand on the way out of voting. I told her "We got this!"

As I have posted before - the work doesn't wait until the 2018 election. It starts NOW with many state-wide elections in 2017.
