after all this crap is over and the sane people take control again?
If tRump and the Grabbers Of Pussy are evil, then Putin is evil times a billion. I cannot see any relations with Russia being normalized within the next ten years. Seems like this was an all or nothing play by Putin, and it is turning on him. The world is watching this unfold here in the states and taking preventative measures at home. Will anyone in democratic countries continue relations with Russia?
Furthermore, when Russians get tired of Putin failing bigly, are they going to leak all of his kompromat? I can see it happening as a way for them to come clean, as sort of appeasement.

(58,645 posts)if you think about it, this whole mess is based on the Russian oil. That's really all that Russia has that anybody wants.
This is also the last gasp of the Petrofascists trying to keep the world economy in thrall to them. Kill the demand for oil, and Putin has nothing.

(17,984 posts)Oil is the carrot they've dangled in front of us, but Putin is after regaining what was lost to perestroika and the dissolution of the USSR. I mean, he wants to go waaaay back. We cannot forget that he can sell that oil to other countries to keep that monstrous military apparatus afloat.
I guess what I'm getting at is that the U.S. has always been responsible for holding Russia in check. But now what? How the hell do we approach that responsibility diplomatically in the face of what he has done during this election?

(9,033 posts)Problem is we have plenty of petrofascists too, and they're in bed with the MIC. They all have their fingers in the pie.
But I agree that a whole lotta issues evaporate into thin air with renewable energy.
