(91,807 posts)investigation into Russian interference, opposing the atrocious nominees from trump, and a whole slew of other issues, but there is one tiny little problem.
THEY ARE THE MINORITY IN BOTH HOUSES

(55,894 posts)Democrats are slowing things down as much as they can.
And calling for independent prosecutions.
What do YOU want them to do? Go up to Trump and kick him in the balls?
akbacchus_BC
(5,700 posts)the Dems could do except to maintain their resolve against trump's unfair policies.

(5,700 posts)is vindictive! Who the fuck voted for this moron I keep asking myself as opposed to Mrs. Clinton. Do the scrunts in America like to be fucked over and over. Seems to me that they love being bullied. Gawd have mercy, they should have all voted for Mrs. Clinton, that tin foil hat idiot trump was not an incumbent. I curse everyday that this asshole is the resident ot the white house, please someone, catch him jerking off since his wife chooses to live elsewhere, joke. I am just pissed with the elections!

(110,746 posts)and since the people of this country, in their infinite wisdom, voted too many GOP drones back into office, that's about the best they can do: stall, nitpick, filibuster in the Senate, and vote against every cherished Dolt 45 inspired bill.

(5,700 posts)on earth they feel that beating people to the grond is a good policy. Those fuckers have no empathy nor moral.
Makes me ask: are their voters rich who do not need medicare?

(5,700 posts)And to think that these assholes could repeal and replace the ACA in two months is idiotic.
I really hope that the American people who will be disenfranchised will speak up.

(10,252 posts)or not watching the right TV shows and reading very much. Dems are pushing back, although the MSMedia doesn't do a very good job of reporting it.

(15,384 posts)the reason Trump gets away with it is "his people" trust him to do the right thing. Since I'm not willing to be a politician, I'm willing to trust the ones I have supported to do what is possible. I don't think ill of most of them. They are smart, they hate Trump as much as I do. They know what they can do and what they can't.
You obviously do not. I find your answer unproductive. And insulting to some great men and women who I believe are doing what they can. You might find more comfort with another group. We're called "democratic underground" for a reason.
Suggest something productive or yell and scream elsewhere.

(68,217 posts)We know efforts are being made to divide and conquest the Democratic Party...and Jill Stein is Putin's girl...we have pictures to prove it...of Ms. Stein and Flynn.

(574 posts)Consider what republicans would do if the roles were reversed, then do what the republicans would do. For the really slow democrats, they could use 2008 to 2016 as a how-to guidebook.

(68,217 posts)Start working on 18 and send them some help...criticizing the Democrats is why were are here today...so many were so appalled by 'emails' that they helped elect Trump...and not all were conservatives either...such folks have blood on their hands literally.

(61,331 posts)The party that holds the majority in the House and Senate control the process. The majority party gets to chair every committee. They decide what gets discussed.
Americans put Republicans in charge of both houses of Congress and the White House.
There is literally almost nothing the Democrats can do. They are doing what they can.
Next election, let's elect some Democrats, ok?
MineralMan
(146,116 posts)They are not pushing back from a position of strength, you see. We failed to give Democrats a majority in the Senate while we were failing to elect a Democrat as President last year.
In Congress, the majority party rules. That's the system. We should have done better in November, but too many people stayed home or voted futilely for third party candidates. See, that's also how it works.
If we don't vote in large enough numbers for Democratic candidates, the Republicans win. Again, that's how it works.
Will we learn from this? Probably not. We keep doing the same thing over and over again.

(42,179 posts)Another day on DU, another "why aren't the Dems doing something" screed.
Dems are pushing back quite well. Maybe you should take a look at the dozens of threads over the past weeks delineating that fact.

(4,334 posts)And I call and tell them so. Do it every day of the week. Some people smoke, I pick up my phone and someone gets a polite but angry earful. You are not alone. Every time I see asshat I punch him, figuratively. I have gardening to soothe me.
There is a difference between dems and our reps who are dem. We already know that they will roll over if we don't keep after some of them. So to all of you giving the poster a hard time for denigrating the response of our reps, not the people here, I think there is a valid concern when all of this shit is being exposed and I do not hear a single peep from my rep.
Every single rep should be saying something. I realize some are, some are busy, but too many are silent. We are talking about treason at the highest level. When does a five alarm fire warrant a five alarm response?

(5,591 posts)It's frustrating because we can't know everything and just have to go on faith.
The Press has let us down so much it's overwhelming sometimes. That is slowly turning.
But I truly believe there are Democratic warriors who are massing a substantial battle.
We see the surface only and we've been seeing a lot lately. Bits and pieces but they are all fitting into the bigger puzzle. They are fighting.
During the transition, much of the crap that is going down isn't governed by constitutional law, but more and more is edging over that line.
Then it is a whole new ballgame. A new, winnable fight.
Have faith. Stay mad. But stay forward thinking.
