I'm watching the repeal ACA with concern, but I can't help noticing how once the again the dolts in the GOP got outdone by the unparalleled masterly skill of President Obama. If they repeal the ACA and replace it with their crap bill, they will lose the house and probably the Senate and a lot of tea f'n party political careers will end with a whimper. And if they stop trying to repeal it, the ACA stands. The 3rd alternative is that the dolts will try to do the improvements that the ACA needs that will make it better than it is, just as healthcare advocates had intended. The improvements, not expecting the dolts to come up with them. It is just lovely to see.

(24,396 posts)was brilliantly constructed to be difficult to undo without a lot of people suffering due to loss of coverage (not to mention that it's been in place for 6+ years), which is currently what's got the Republicans tied up in Gordian knots. At some point, the Republicans are either going to have to repeal/replace it and deal with the resulting fallout or learn to live with ACA being the established law of the land and new status quo for health care in this country (and maybe eventually work with Democrats to make it even better). Even though Republicans ran and won on repealing/replacing it and even though it cost President Obama and the Democratic Party dearly in a political sense, and even though it went through Supreme Court "meat grinder" twice and been subject to all forms of Republican sabotage efforts, ACA has proven to be remarkably resilient.

it's not at all difficult in concept to repeal it and go back to where we were before the obamacare.
the only thing that makes it painful is that it has been a brilliant success, and people don't want to abandon a program that's working and go back to the problems we had before.
