Tom Perriello-VA becoming a Democratic Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate in 2020 after

getting elected to the VA Governorship in 2017.
VA is a one term state. Perriello will be out of office by January 2022. VA's Democratic US Senators Warner and Kaine are less likely to retire or lose re-election in the near future.

Let's not overstate Tom's electoral history. His district was represented for years by Virgil Goode, who served as a Democrat from 1997 to 2000, was elected as an independent in 2000 and then as a repub in 2002, 2004, and 2006. Tom defeated Goode by 727 votes in 2008, but then lost his bid for re-election in 2010 and has been out of electoral politics since then.

I'd like to see Tom get the nomination, but ethereality is that Ralph Northam, the incumbent lieutenant governor, has done well in the straw bells, thus far. That does't bode well for Tom.

He has potential, but he doesn't have a strong progressive voting record.
