I hope that the irony was not lost on members of DU that Trey Gowdy spent both of his speaking times
so far this morning questioning Jim Comey and Mike Rogers on what they had done, and were currently doing, to find the source of the leaks that outed Michael Flynn as having discussed lifting sanctions with the Russians on the phone when he had claimed he had not. Apparently Rep Gowdy is more concerned with who the leak is and that he or she do prison time for the unlawful disclosure of Michael Flynn's name rather then whether or not Flynn as Trump's National Security Advisor was meeting with and conversing with members of the Russian Intelligence who we know are out to undermine and destroy our democracy.
I am flabbergasted having listened to Gowdy oversee or be a part of congressional hearing after hearing investigating Hillary Clinton over and over about Benghazi and later regarding her use of a personal server, for him to now have not a single concern of all we've learned about how the Russians tried to undermine our election with the goal of initially helping to get Trump elected and when they thought that goal had failed, helping to do maximum damage to her reputation that would undermine her ability to govern once elected. As it turns out the Russian's damage to Clinton did undermine her ability to be elected, and we now have in the White House a man who lies repeatedly, without impunity, and whose lies have repeatedly done damage to the credibility of the United States and our reputation with our Allies.
Gowdy shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. After having spent millions to investigate Hillary, he will now try and spend millions to identify and imprison someone whom I think should be considered a hero rather than a criminal for outing the Trump administration and their contacts with the Russians.
