*if* donnie doesn't serve out his full term, the excuse will be

a "medical" issue.

while donnie being forced out in response to scandal is certainly a possibility, i continue to believe actual impeachment & removal or resignation without a medical excuse remain unlikely as the way he actually exits office.

if he/they decide he needs to go, they'll exaggerate, if not entirely fabricate a "medical" issue. he'll have (or fake) a stroke or a heart attack. he'll be fine enough to return to running his businesses into the ground full time, but he'll use this as an excuse to resign the presidency while continuing to deny any wrongdoing.

he'll claim victory, citing the market at all-time highs, etc., and take credit for fixing all of america's problems, and leave the mess in pence's hands. the media will insist things have returned to normal and any continued investigations will go on the back burner.

and then, of course, we'll get gorsuch or some equivalent right-winger on the court even though pence's election is every bit as illegitimate as donnies.....

1. I don't know. That would make him look like a 70yo man with low stamina.

And can you imagine the media coverage when he goes back to his business and back to his golfing?

"Too sick for office but fit enough to run a business-empire?"

they'll be all agog about pence and the many changes in washington, donnie will be an ex-president and ex-presidents get limited coverage.

golfing may or may not be an issue. with a heart attack, they can play it as part of his slow recovery, especially if he can lie low for a short while after the "heart attack". with a stroke, they can say he's not physically impaired, but just imply that they were worried about the cognitive effects as president.

or he can just lie like he always does. claim his golfing proves he was improperly forced out of office and it's all obama's fault.

He'll find a way to make himself look like a great success no matter what he does. Meanwhile, he clearly does not like this job and probably would like to go back to his old life. Of course, there is the problem that he probably owes a lot of money to some unsavory characters.

i have to think the dow would soar at least 500 points with donnie gone.

i'm sure the market would figure pence would get the market-friendly crap republican love done without the anti-trade stuff the market hates....

Before they go to Trump, the Republicans will go to the Democrats to support a "corrupt bargain" - Roll up the election tampering investigation and we will go to Trump to force a resignation. The Dems might even get some say in the VP. Unfortunately it does not appear that Pence is in jeopardy, so, unless he has been taking money from contractors (a la Agnew) we are just going to get a laundried theocrat if we take the bargain. The VP will selection will be irrelevant, but might give the Dems cover as "winning" one.

Overall we will be in worse shape if this scenario comes to pass.

in beauty pageants, the runner-up wins if the winner can't serve.

for the white house, we made the runner-up president and the winner got cast into the wilderness....
