Bennet says he won't try to block Gorsuch

Senator Michael Bennet says he will not join Democratic efforts to block a full-Senate vote on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

The Colorado Democrat has been under pressure to support Gorsuch in part because the nominee is also from Colorado. Bennet doesn't say whether he will ultimately vote in favor of Gorsuch. But he says he will not try to block a vote.

If Democrats successfully block a vote on Gorsuch, Senate Republicans are threatening to change Senate rules to enable them to confirm a Supreme Court nominee with a simple majority of 51 votes.

Under current rules, the need 60 votes to end debate.

Bennet says, "Changing the Senate rules now will only further politicize the Supreme Court."

Roll over and play dead Bennet.

There is only one option, block this nomination. Any other choice by a democratic senator should cause complete erosion of support by all democratic voters.

The Repubs would ideally love to keep the filibuster and claim bipartisan support for their nutcase nominations. Then when the Dems take over at some time in the future, they will use the filibuster against any democratic nomination and scream bloody murder about any attempts to do away with it.

Best to let them take all the blame. If they do away with the filibuster, it is on them, and Gorsuch's insane rulings will also be entirely on them.

Next thing you know someone will tell me that Presidents can make sweeping changes using executive orders.

He'll vote for cloture, but then won't commit to whether he'll vote for him to be appointed?

It's a very simple question senator, yes, or no...?

Of course, the sitting Senator from the Nominee's state is going to vote for the guy. Seriously, do we even want the majority anymore?
