Did I really just hear Lindsey Graham correctly?

He has to vote for nuclear option, because if we let the Democrats continue to get their way, well, we just can't go along with that.

What the bloody fuck? Since when have the Democrats ever gotten their way? Eight years with a Democratic president, and every single thing was obstructed by the GOP. But now we're getting our way? I'm going to be sick.

There's a huge difference between the majority doing something and the minority doing the same thing. It's only a filibuster if the minority keep the majority from controlling the actions of the Senate.

What Republicans did to Garland was to say "no" without putting any Senator on the record as actually doing so. We did the same thing a few years earlier to appellate court nominees.

We can also blame some of those same Senate Democrats for not making a bigger deal of it last year. They were complicit in allowing Republican Senators to hide without voting... because they were sure that we would take back the White House and Senate... and Clinton would get to pick someone farther left than the moderate Garland.

They are not an intellectually developed group of people.

They honestly see them selves as the victim regardless of which side they are on. Either they are not winning or the see themselves as being persecuted for being the majority. They are essentially ignorant to their actions.

It's not that they're stupid (at least in the Senate). It's they think their constituents are stupid.

So far their constituents haven't proved them wrong.

For them, it's all about Power Uber Alles, period. Power Uber Alles, including the good of the country. Even St. Ronnie of Raygun would be appalled by his party today, especially their gleeful embrace of Russian dictators in the name of Power Uber Alles.

It was raising my blood pressure too much!

Fucking lying bastards - they would not even TALK to Merritt Garland! At least the Democrats actually talked to Gorsuch, gave him the courtesy of meeting with him, and participated in the hearing for him.

The pieces of shit that call themselves Republicans would not do ANY of that for Judge Merritt Garland - who was MUCH more qualified than Gorsuch in that Garland actually has a soul and cares about human beings over corporations.

Their insane treatment of Merritt Garland was the historically bad act - not trying to block a right wing corporate loving judge who is to the RIGHT of Scalia. Not ONE of these assholes will even acknowledge their unprecedented ;poor treatment of a Supreme Court nominee.

If they could, they would rule the US as a one-party state. That is why any minor advancement by the Dems is too much for them to bear.

MAKE them nuke the filibuster or lose.

If they get rid of it, yes, this battle will be lost, but it will cost them the war in the long term. THEY know this, which is why all the linguistic game-playing. They don't wanna have to do it, and they fear like hell what will happen if they back themselves into a rhetorical corner and we let them sit there.

Fuck em. This isn't our bed. We neither made it or unmade it so let them sleep in their own wet spot.

I'm finished with helping them. Filibuster it and then make THEM whip 51 votes AFTER the nuclear option.

Also keep things from going too far right or left.

But since Repubs have used it as a weapon for 8 years.....I say fuck it and let them nuke. Lets drop the veil of civility. If they don't like it, tough. They created this mess....we should follow through.

And the funny thing is, their gerrymandering, tricks, etc. will only get them so far and eventually their minority status will show itself. Then they are going to rue the day they screwed with the filibuster.

If we don't filibuster Gorsuch, they get Gorsuch. If we filibuster Gorsuch, they get Gorsuch, but they lose the filibuster.

If Tribblehead brings down his party sufficiently for the 2018 election, and there's every sign he will, we're in the majority and they won't be able to filibuster a damned thing. If we then win the presidency in 2020, they can't filibuster a damned thing.

Granted those are two big ifs, but we managed in 2006 and 2008. Imagine what we could have accomplished under Obama without the filibuster.
