(7,809 posts)That is the age where we were the victims of such sexual abuse and knew that it was wrong. We don't want our daughters to go through life having to put up with the same sort of bullshit.

(3,847 posts)they lash out at what they understand the least. That we are all humans and need to take care of each other, not teach new generations to destroy the planet.
Basic thinking skills are an extinct animal.

(17,003 posts)How do you think it's gonna work out when you manage to piss off a whole bunch of menopausal women? Women who are finished or finishing up raising their children. Women who have reached a level of success in their careers. Women who thought this battle had already been won. Women who are old enough and wise enough to know that "be a good girl" does not mean sit down and shut up, it means stand up and speak out. The insomnia, hot flashes and mood swings just give us a little extra attitude.

(81,220 posts)Let's not forget that, either.
The whole over-arching objective I see here seems to be to downplay and diminish ANY acknowledgement of women and our needs and our interests and our concerns.
What's really enraging me is knowing that two Democratic senators reached out to Gorsuch to arrange meetings to get acquainted and talk with him and get some notion of where he stands on the issues. And they were rebuffed. No time for them. Sorry. They just happened to be female. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada and Tammy Duckworth of Illinois. That putz just blew them off. Guess they weren't that important, 'eh?
I also wondered why they've been parading Kelly Ayotte around as Gorsuch's accessory. What on earth? Why is she there? Still trying to pretend (or make people think) she belongs there? Is THAT the bone they think they're throwing to women? We're back to tokenism now?

(5,995 posts)Even though the GOP stonewalled Garland without so much as a hearing or even meetings with the Senators, the Dems are following through on the Constitutional directive to Advise and Consent. The Dems didn't just blindly refuse to participate, but have actively looked into the nominee and the circumstances surrounding the process to inform their actions.
The venal GOP leadership didn't even have the balls to face Garland directly before rejecting him. I think that was a strategy on their part because a well qualified jurist would have highlighted the lies used to justify their actions in ignoring a primary Constitutional duty.

(4,341 posts)So they are now sorry they voted for Trump? The videos of Trump demeaning women were not enough to make a rational decision, to know who the man is and make sure he would not occupy the sit of the presidency.
I only hope that in the future people will learn from this and realize that making a decision to vote is not a game, there are dire consequences.

(32,634 posts)There are many "fake" or misleading poll numbers, and I think this is one of them.
Let me put it this way, I know a lot of middle-aged white women, as I'm one myself.
I don't know a single woman (white or otherwise) who voted for Trump.
Granted I don't live in the midwestern "flyover" states (I'm in Pennsylvania) but I do believe that many women changed their vote when they heard about the grab-em-by-the-p*ssy tapes. It woke up a lot of people.
The poll numbers are based on who they SAID they voted for, not who they really voted for.
Do you get me? But I could be wrong.

I mean, no women in my world did except one and now she regrets it.
To me, that figure is another indication that makes me think this election was somehow rigged.
