(11,996 posts)I guess she never read the IC report the ICA put out in January. Could have saved her a couple months...
Directorate or GRU) used the Guccifer 2.0 persona and DCLeaks.com to release US victim data
obtained in cyber operations publicly and in exclusives to media outlets and relayed material to
WikiLeaks.
Russian intelligence obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple US state or local
electoral boards.
...
In July 2015, Russian intelligence gained access to Democratic National
Committee (DNC) networks and maintained that access until at least June 2016.
The General Staff Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) probably began cyber operations aimed
at the US election by March 2016. We assess that the GRU operations resulted in the
compromise of the personal e-mail accounts of Democratic Party officials and political figures.
By May, the GRU had exfiltrated large volumes of data from the DNC.

connections? We need everyone in this fight and she is super smart. She has a big following on Twitter - Joy Reid, John Marshall, Jester, Alexandra Chalupa, Andrea Chalupa, etc. some of her followers. Obviously they don't think she is full of shit.

(108,975 posts)She reported on the probable Nunes connection in the WH on March 27, three days before the NY Times reported the same person.
She isn't a loon. She's a conservative ally, a never-Trumper with connections in the intelligence community because she -- unlike some American progressives -- didn't fall for the traitor Edward Snowden.

(8,693 posts)But where it gets interesting is that the WH rogues brand her a nutter, and which she now apparently is not, making the WH rogues a part of the cover-up
However, it seems increasingly clear that Mensch landed an extraordinary scoop that had eluded the best investigative journalists in the US.
Her explanation is that her vocal advocacy on behalf of UK and US intelligence agencies since former NSA contractor Edward Snowdens revelations about mass surveillance led her sources to trust her

(382 posts)Her work is indeed engaging and if nothing else, thought provoking. But phew! What a drama queen!!! Maybe a bit of a narcissist, herself. She gets VERY defensive when people challenge her ideas or don't agree with her point of view.
She's a good place to start if you're on a deep dive for information on an issue she covers. She has some really good credible sources, but she tends to embellish sometimes. In the end, I figure if John Schindler, Adam Khan and Scott Dworkin are citing her work, I generally accept her work as, at the very least, plausible theory.

(11,996 posts)Prove collusion.
Trump/Spectrum operatives and employees in the United States could interact with this list and have no clue the origins of the data were nefarious. This plain-sight approach was the key to its success.
...
Pains working theory is that Russia created a voter targeting database with information gleaned from hacked DNC data rolls and other data rolls acquired from other states to feed this growing contact database. That database originated at Russian Intelligence which was in turn replicated to Russias Alfa Bank. This is where the data laundering takes place, Alfa Bank is the pivot point where the FSBs data fingerprints are wiped clean. Ironically Russia launders its data at the same place it launders its money.
In New York Trump Tower could merge data into this system using various legal sources as well. Spectrum Health could also add value to the data by matching names and addresses in their extensive healthcare databases to harvest email addresses and phone numbers to flesh out this list. All these changes would be promptly replicated back to Russia in a matter of hours.
Alfa Bank supposedly owns Cambridge Analytica. trump legally hired CA to help his campaign. Micro-targeting is THE whole point of the company, so so far there is nothing illegal.
Connecting info databases makes great sense if that was what was going on. Surprised it wasn't linked to Kushner's San Antonio data center (mentioned in Forbes).
Someone has to show trump, Manafort, and/or Kushner etc. KNEW that Alfa Bank aka CA was getting (illegally obtained) data from Russian State Intelligence. Seems Mensch has supplied a good cover for the the server connection stuff without proof of collusion.
