Or part of flynn's story his attorney mentioned in the request for immunity? Are they are just trying to move him to arms distance to try to set up deniability later?

(13,903 posts)IMHO that was Bannon, the propagandist's, idea. He used the NSC lackeys to institute the scam and that bit him in the ass.

(111,245 posts)Likely Pig Pen was the one who signaled to Assad that his removal was no longer a US concern and there would be no US intervention. 5 days later, Assad used Sarin on a bunch of farmers who had the bad luck to be living in the wrong place. Most of the dead were women and children and there were a lot of dead.
Or Pig Pen told Dolt45 that Assad was his new best friend because Putin likes him. Who knows?
I would imagine Pig Pen was in this enough that it freaked Dolt45 out, he had a tantrum and sacked him.
That's only a vaguely educated guess, that Bannon's ignorant advice splashed shit all over Dolt. Or Dolt's ignorant actions were backed up by Bannon. The threat of Flynn's testimony might have been an additional propellant out the door, that the mess in Syria is the proximate cause.

(111,245 posts)because the Orange Horror is running a skeleton crew (nobody wants to work for him) and there is no one to replace him except maybe one of his kids or his kids' spouses, something that will be a very hard sell to a mildly hostile Congress.

(19,045 posts)More likely though that this was just a case of sane (although war mongering) members of the NSC recognized that Bannon is in fact totally insane. They were trying to base their decisions on actual intelligence, Bannon was leading the team with info from Right Wing message boards and Alex Jones.
Bannon was dangerous and he would have lead us to nuclear war.
