Why would he jeopardize his only chance of "whiteyfying" Amerika?

He's still going to be 'invited' to the NSC table from what the writer from Bloomberg said, so almost nothing has changed.

I put nothing past the deviousness of this administration. It could have been done just for
optics to take some of the heat off of Bannon while retaining the actual role.

...including the snickering about "President Bannon" and getting ordered to the little desk.

He plays people around him off each other, and people thinking he himself is gettting played drives him nuts.

I think he still will have tremendous influence regardless of losing one of many titles.
I'm not so sure he'll see it as a snub any more than Lewendowski, Manafort, or Roger Stone.

he is still too close to power to call it quits. Jared and Ivanka may want to up security just in case though.
