Pair of Canada geese head to Omaha hospital to have their babies

An unusual maternity case involving sextuplets is unfolding at Lakeside Hospital, but the staff has decided to let the mother and father handle the birthing on their own.
Ralph and Alice, a pair of Canada geese, have built a nest inside a flower pot near the hospitals emergency room doors. A security officer, Tom Stock, said the pair have nested near the hospital every spring since 2005.
Its kind of fun just to see the whole process, Stock said Wednesday. Especially since Canada geese mate for life. Its kind of like our pet project.
This year, the location of the nest and six eggs has hospital staff members scratching their heads. In the past, the geese have selected quieter sites near a small waterfall by the Healing Garden or outside the Sleep Lab.
