We're starting to see more shape to the internal fighting - alliances, etc. Looks like McMaster waited just long enough to get his feet under him, then went to work, not taking any crap ... interesting to see what the next 3 levels of political Hell look like as we move through them as a country.
If Jared really IS trying to peel Bannon away from 45, I think it will happen, because Jared + Ivanka outweighs Bannon -- who is now publically wounded.

(90,763 posts)I don't think Bannon was around him while he was sexually assaulting women. Well, he could have been recently.
Blaming Bannon for recognizing what Trump is like blaming people for recognizing their own self in a mirror.

(31,464 posts)He can get rid of people who disagree with him, as we've already seen. But he daughter/lover and apprentice world leader son-in-law are not going anywhere. Trump will accept anything they tell him. That's not a good thing.

(837 posts)Good for NEITHER Bannon nor Kushner to be directing the show, we can likely agree ... so given an evil, at least for a while, which do you choose?
I'd go with Kushner for now.

(31,464 posts)The totally self-absorbed, self-centered, self-aggrandizing disregard for any form of ethics or statesmanship is so baffling to me that I cannot really choose a lesser evil. There is not a one among them who possesses a soul, or an ounce of empathy or compassion. There is only Evil A or Evil B or Evil C.

(18,124 posts)soon to be ex-president? He's still chief WH strategist. Out with pres. bannon, in with pres/SOS kushner? What a dangerous fustercluck the deplorables have wrought upon us all.

(14,918 posts)Some said it was payback for sending Kushner's daddy to the slammer. I am no fan of Christie's but I think he knows where the bodies are hidden and is capable of having the last (or at least the latest) laugh. Maybe he has whispered something into Bannon's ear. Also, the Mercers have funded a huge opposition research organization. If they think Trump isn't carrying out their agenda, they are not above cutting him loose and moving on to the next useful idiot. The Mercers brought Bannon and the recently low-profile Kellyanne Conway onto Team Trump. They are probably not pleased with this turn of events.

(12,649 posts)Also, the Mercers are being exposed for the Libertarian Randriods they are. This is their shot. If they can actually affect change and turn the government into the capitalist theocratic puppet they want it to be within the next four years, then this country is done. We'll have decades of low-level Civil War and winnowing of the citizenry who can't afford their citizenship while the country re-arranges itself and at least the West Coast eventually becomes it's own economy and government.
Libertarians and Ayn Rand fanatics prefer a Fascist government because "the elite" of business and government will be in charge of the rest of the citizenry; but they don't understand that Fascism can't work; it traps itself into the class struggle the elite themselves create. While a few privileged few oligarchs benefit from Fascism, Fascism itself identifies everyone in "The State" as disposable. Look at the range of 20th century fascists.
I'm actually surprised Franco lasted as long as he did in Spain; but then, unlike most Fascists, he had backing from outside forces because of "Communism" and Spain's juxtaposition on the world stage at that time (especially with the conflicts in Africa) that enabled him to control enough money and outside influence to stay in power.
And a large amount of people who are being treated like disposable slaves will eventually turn on the ruling elite and their mercenaries/toady enablers. And it's never been pretty.
