(13,524 posts)As I said in another post: If Assad had used incendiaries instead of nerve gas against ISIS, would the slow-roasting of some children have been superior to asphyxiation? And finally, why was this OUR business to punish Assad? Dont European armies have cruise missiles? Let them be a global force for good. Now were doing the business of neo-cons and globalists with a smile.

Ask yourself what could possibly convince Trump to do this?
Direct threat to deliver Iranian nukes?
Blackmail to stop nuking major US city?
On its face this makes no sense.
To: bobsunshine
Question. Has anyone seen a damage assessment?
I mean, we warn Russia. Russia warns Assad. Assad warns his generals. The generals move all the valuable crap outta there, and we just spent hundreds of millions to bust up some concrete.
I agree a message was sent. Dont know if we agree on what the message was.
I understand he had to do something. This looks like Kabuki to me.
To: bobsunshine
Trump just lost most of his younger supporters and the people who were with him the whole time. Dont expect to see many people protesting for Trump or defending Trump on social media now. This was a monumental own goal by Trump. What he has lost in domestic support will have devastating consequences when the attacks on Trump heat up.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/07/politics/russia-us-syria-strike/index.html
Some are saying Trump bombing Syria was a PR stunt. That would make sense but considering everything else I'm thinking it's more of a distraction from the Trump Russia investigation.
Attacking Syria, especially w/o Congressional approval, goes against what Trump has pushed HARD previously so he's either very desperate to change the topic/increase 'ratings' or totally lost his marbles and given in to fascists like Bannon.

(26,060 posts)those tomahawks to hit some Russian planes, they had to tell Russia to get out of the way. Russia will whine about the strike anyway, they obviously did indeed get their asses out.

My guess is ... the latter. Though I suppose I should adhere to the 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' doctrine, it can be hard at times ...

(12,646 posts)The White Nationalist Christianist types who couldn't stand the thought of another Democrat - and a weak woman at that - in the White House, and
The more Libertarian types who claimed that Hillary's State Department resume (and background as a former Goldwater Girl) showed that she was a Globalist who would get us into War with Syria (funny, that) before 6 months was over in her administration. Most former Obama voters I know who went either Trump or write-in/third party fell into that category.
I suspect the latter is where you're seeing most of the actual feelings of betrayal. The former are just pissed that Drumpf is showing his hand as a liar for the Conservi-Cause too soon.
