So if it was necessary to tell Russia before the attack to avoid an "incident".....

....why even shoot off missiles in the first place?

We knew Putin would tell Assad, and Assad would clear things out.

So, suffering people of Syria, here's your empty airbase with a couple of craters in it. Merry Christmas. You're welcome. Please don't come to our country.

The more I think about it, the more pointless this entire thing was. (For everyone but Trump, that is. It does give him some nice political cover.)
