Sarin was confirmed by the Turks, who found chemical markers in lung secretions. That part might be reliable.

The rest? Uh, we need to be careful here. There are a lot of bad actors and stockpiles of gas have been found on all sides when areas have changed hands, at least the news coming out of the area has said so. Remember, the first casualty of war is truth.

The real story is the whiplash inducing change of policy here. Keep watching the WH, this is going to get very interesting.

If we start looking around and trying to figure out all the different players and who has what and the subtleties and the nuances, we might wind up not firing missiles at anybody! And that won't make Brian Williams wax poetic, or cause Fareed Zakaria to declare that President Trump is looking presidential. Sure, we'll waste a lot of materiel, might kill some innocents, might even invite some blowback. But by golly, I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part!

And we're just the guys to do it.

Governing philosophy cribbed from Animal House. What could go wrong?

but I know the military had seriously itchy trigger fingers from day one.

Like I said, the real story is the leap and pirouette the WH has done in the last three days, canning Bannon and becoming interventionist in Putin's back yard. It bears close watching.

unless we destroy Damascus.

I remember the all the news coverage of the war crimes in the old Yugoslavia of the torture and killing of the people in Croatia and Bosnia H.. They would show young people setting in outdoor cafes and not feeling one ounce of the pain.

Go on into Damascus with the bombs, especially the palaces.
