One word says it all. Asian: Airbnb host reportedly leaves guest stranded because of her race

An Airbnb host in California has been banned after an Asian American guest claimed her reservation was canceled at the last minute because of her race.

Airbnb spokesman Nick Papas told The Washington Post in an email that the host’s behavior was “abhorrent and unacceptable.” The company has in recent years faced growing complaints of racial discrimination by its hosts.

-snip-

On Feb. 17, the group of four set out up the mountain. An intense winter storm was then hitting the area, making road conditions hazardous and prompting flash-flood warnings, according to local reports.

When they were minutes away from the cabin, Suh sent a message to the host through the Airbnb app to let her know they were close and asked how they might pay for adding the two friends to the reservation, according to the news station.
That’s when their trip took a turn.

“If you think 4 people and 2 dogs ate getting a room fir $50 a night on big bear mountain during the busiest weekend of the year ..… You are insanely high,” the host texted her, according to Suh’s screenshots of the exchange. The host, identified as “Tami” in the images, also called Suh “a con artist” and canceled the reservation.

Suh said she was shocked, then protested, telling the host that she had screenshots of their earlier messages showing she had agreed to the reservation changes.

“Go ahead. I wouldn’t rent to u if you were the last person on earth,” the host wrote back to Suh. “One word says it all. Asian”
When Suh replied that she would report the host to Airbnb for being racist, the host told her to “Go ahead” and “It’s why we have trump.”

Even California has lost it's mind. If these people hate the brown people so much they need to move to Nebraska. That way they will never have to see any or make any money from their disgusting racism.

are a desert redneck Trump hell. Just add them to the usual list of undesirables, the parolees, the environment destroying off-roaders, and the tweakers. Aside from this list, the local yogi douchebags and weekend, twenty something year old, Chipotle eating, bearded millennials are worth a laugh.

can assure you that Californians are a very diverse group of people. Some are very nice and some are full-on bigots, just like in every other state.

Airbnb has issued Suh a full refund to cover the first night and the stay at a hotel. She requested that AsAmNews not publish the name of the host, but described her as an ESL professor at a local college.

“You would think that a teacher who works with racially diverse and foreign students would of all people be one who is compassionate and not racist.
But that was a scary revelation. My friends think she should be fired and the college should not tolerate racists in classrooms. I’m Catholic and I believe in repentance. My hope is that she learns to love and not hate, even if she just holds the hate in her heart and doesn’t usually say such racist things, I hope she learns to love instead.

I wonder if she advertised that she takes dogs.

There's something fishy about this story.

"When they were minutes away from the cabin, Suh sent a message to the host through the Airbnb app to let her know they were close and asked how they might pay for adding the two friends to the reservation, according to the news station."

So, Suh says that the owner of the b&b had already approved of the extra guests, but had not discussed extra payment? The owner of the air bnb is an ass, but I'm not sure this woman isn't trying to pull one over using the media. I wonder how much Miss Law Student plans on suing for?

"About a month before their trip, Suh booked a mountain cabin on Airbnb listed as a “Tree House Loft and Private Bathroom” in Running Springs, Calif. Suh said she later messaged the host to ask if she could add two friends to the reservation and was told it would not be a problem."

She said she had the texts to prove it and the host has been banned. Doesn't seem a bit fishy to me.

She didn't expose this story; the news channel did, several months after they'd taped the footage. The channel hasn't said why it waited this long to air it.

At the time it happened, all she did was post it on Facebook. That same night, one of her (white) friends in the car also posted on Facebook that they'd almost gotten killed in the snowstorm because of that Air B&B host.

Remember when Li'l Donnie said he would pay for legal costs for his supporters if they beat up protestors? Well, every single time someone commits a hate crime in his name, he should be made to pay (out of his own account) for reparations. Those reparations can include court costs, hotel costs, lost work, medical bills, etc.
