United overbooks a flight and this is how they treat their passengers.
-----------------------------------------
A man claiming to be a doctor was forcibly dragged off a United flight in Chicago on Sunday, according to video posted to social media.
The video, posted to Twitter and Facebook by multiple passengers, shows a screaming man being literally dragged off an airplane by uniformed personnel. According to those who posted the video, the video was shot on a United flight in Chicago set to take off for Louisville.
One eyewitness told the Louisville Courier-Journal that the flight was overbooked, and before the flight began boarding United employees offered passengers $400 and a free hotel room in exchange for their seat. United explained that four of its employees needed to be in Louisville in the morning to service a flight.

(14,914 posts)officer "busted his lip," as a shocked fellow passenger can be heard saying in the video. Others can be heard saying, "Oh my God" and "Look what you did to him!" It sounds as if his screaming was a consequence of being assaulted while being forcibly removed from his seat, for which he had paid and which he was occupying peacefully, whereas the headline would make one think that he was randomly screaming and that was what prompted his removal.

They probably allowed him back on once they found out he has enough $$ to fight back.

(48,955 posts)not that of the passengers to disembark or be disembarked by force (mmm. the 'security' personnel are wearing jackets that say "Police" on the back.)
Surely there were other flights going from Chicago to Louisville - even if they had to be booked on another airline - that could have been used to get the 4 United airline employees to Louisville. The cost and inconvenience is the responsibility of United.
I hope the good doctor has a lawyer preparing to file suit.

(7,963 posts)Forcibly removing someone off the flight is not voluntary. United needs to take responsibility for their scheduling incompetence.

(17,862 posts)and not one accepted the $800 compensation. What to make of that? I sure bet United wished they had gone up to $1200.
