weren't largely responsible for the problems listed, but to blame us for Trump? Lots of young people voted Trump, too. When you look at photos of his rallies, there is a mixed crowd - it's not all geriatrics. During the campaign, a fellow DUer wrote that Trump supporters were predominately old people & that once we all die off so will racism & misogyny. If only that were true.

Yes lots of young people voted for Trump and lots of old people (like me) voted for Hillary, but as far as the majority of each age group, the below 40's were majority Hillary while the above 40's were majority Trump.

Beautiful ........ even if I'm one of those "parents" alluded too. WE ALL didn't do it! Some of us do care about our world and our place in it. Sadly way too many of my generation did though ........ I've often wondered how we came from the "summer of love" to trump. In the words of Jerry Garcia ".... what a long strange trip its been".

...meme to me. In which the young are pitted against the old.

The outcome of that is a vision of the world in which you must deprive one group at the expense of the other and fight among yourselves but never demand that the richest pay their fair share aimed at creating a workable civilization for both generations.

If we took profit out of education and healthcare and the military industrial complex and had a progressive tax code there would be plenty for both generations.

This is really a note about about righting versus left wing parents. About what the rich have done to the middle class.

Democrats, if they prevailed in all the branches have always wanted free public education, programs to fight global warming and medicare for all.

I see this young vs. old thing being pushed more and more---it's a subversive way to end SS and medicare while at the same time not at all funding things like a free college education etc.

It just is what it is-

Remember the old story of the kid being sent to the school psychiatrist because all the pictures he drew of his parents were done using a black crayon. When asked why he was using such a dark, foreboding color, he replied, "That's was the only one left in the box".

Besides I can't think that deep, I'm a pretty superficial person.

I'll avoid your parents from now on. On the other hand, my 76 year old mom was a Bernie supporter and giggles at "idiot youths" voting for Trump.
