The last execution was in 2011.
Had a black man open fired and mass murdered several white people in a church, I have no doubt South Carolina would have imposed the death penalty under such circumstances.

He is already facing a Federal death penalty and they offered to let him plea guilty on state charges because you can't kill him twice and this spared all the survivors and families the pain and grief of a second trial.
