Is it true that the DCCC is short of funds?

A poster in another thread thought this might be the case. Google isn't helping me. If it is short of money I have to wonder why. All the reports on fundraising I've read re left wing groups indicate the money is flowing very well.

Does anyone know?

This was a possible explanation for why the DCCC didn't help Thompson more. (At all?)

Fundraising has been strong, but at this stage in the game there's still lots of debt from the previous cycle... And Republican fundraising has been stronger (at least in the formal committees).

KS wasn't a race to throw lots off money at... It was an "under the radar" race that you want the RNC to take for granted until they panic at the end (which becomes the story)
