Trump is running the US-intervention in Syria like he's runing his businesses:

1. He has no idea where to start.
2. His brillant plan to defeat ISIS? Never existed. He ordered the Pentagon to come up with a plan and their suggestion was to keep doing what Obama has been doing.
3. He has no idea how to end it. His administration is all over the place: First they want Assad to stay, then they want him to leave, then they want him to stay. All within the span of a week.

So what is his plan with respect to Syria?

The answer is actually very simple. He will treat the problem of the syrian civil-war like he treats a business-problem:

He will try to bully.
-> just like the airstrike that just happened

He will try to find a solution that shifts the losses onto others.
-> He will sell out US-interests in exchange for a political "win".

He will try some chaotic, random, contradicting actions until he finds one that works out. (Costs be damned, because it's not him paying the costs in lost time and lost money and lost lives.)
-> Assad can stay, No he must leave, No he can stay

If his losses become too big, he will simply walk away.
-> He will declare that Syria is someone else's problem and call it a smart move to get out.

He will ignore defeats, no matter how many there are and how grave they are, desperately looking for a victory, any victory.
-> Whatever happens in Syria, if it's good he will take credit for it.
Once Russia, Syria and the Kurds defeat ISIS, Trump will take credit for that.

Trump badly needs to lift sanctions now, Tillerson is of course in on that. But Eliot Rosewater Apr 2017 #3
Boom, yes it's part of a plan and will make Trump look "heroic" for stopping war in Syria flamingdem Apr 2017 #5

They're ramping up all the stakes (in public) on both sides. Tough talk. Hard stances.

Eventually we have to do something to avoid an all out 1:1 war with Russia. Hmmmm....what could help alleviate that threat.

I know...I know...I know.... Pick me, pleeeeeease....

Putin will agree to stop support Assad (who he never really like except for the fact that we hated him so much). In return for their cooperation in Syria, it's only right that we lift sanctions.

Mark the date - before this is over, Russia gets the sanctions lifted. That's what this is all about.

one very important thing (not really but makes the way I say it sound better)

Trump will do what Putin tells him to do in every situation, period.

Putey owns trump at least until the FBI (fingers crossed) exposes the real truth about what has been going on.

Wanna know the sad part, when the FBI shows the trump campaign and trump himself are guilty of espionage with a foreign enemy,
the VAST majority of his voters will STILL support him.
