It doesn't take too long to find the basic facts on the history of The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – Khorasan Province. It is not like they sprung up out of nowhere.

Too many people post the first thing that pops into their heads instead of first typing their question into Google. It comes across as performance art instead of true intellectual curiosity.

I've learned plenty, and I know this "affiliate" bullshit is media nonsense. Are you ISIS or not? It's our government propaganda way of saying "It's someone we wanted to bomb, but we didn't really have a direct connection, so we'll call them ISIS AFFILIATE because ISIS is what gets everybody afraid." Call it performance art if that makes you more comfortable swallowing a load of bullshit.

That way when ISIS rolls into your town, you can tell whether you're being slaughtered by Corporate, or just an franchisee. I get it now. They seem to have a very efficient system set up.

How is "Islamic State" still supporting this? Do they have meetings? Franchise agreements? We were once told they all lived in caves, now they have "affiliates." It's all completely absurd. If we know so much about their company agreements, why don't we have our CIA guys (or something) in there signing up and sending the manual back to...oh, fuck it. It is all just too absurd. The paranoid buy into this bullshit and treat ISIS as if they're a big corporation with franchisees and agreements and standards of conduct. FUCK THAT. We can't even United Airlines to behave, and the government propaganda media wants to sell us this crap that ISIS is like an AVIS Car Rental franchise. Sorry. I've lived long enough to officially be labeled a skeptic. We are being force-fed a bunch of total bullshit in order to keep funding the war machine and big oil. It's a massive industry that is not profitable unless Americans are afraid, and we're fighting an evil bogeyman somewhere.

Every time someone tries to talk to you seriously, you leap on them and carry on making your jokes, and claim that it's them who are missing something.

I think the problem is that you see the word 'affiliate' purely in commercial terms. This is about the world, not about American business. The term 'affiliate' was being used with the Jacobins during the French Revolution - from the Oxford English Dictionary:

1794 W. Burke in E. Burke Wks. (1801) VIII. 402 Nine tenths at least of the jacobin clubs throughout France, adhered to the great patriarchal jacobiniere of Paris, to which they were (to use their own term) affiliated.
