edited to add: oh I just saw this being talked about on another thread so sorry for duplicating discussions.
lies
(315 posts)if you must know.
Is that America is so militaristic that the nominee from both parties is likely to start a war.
The people in question - that would vote based on wanting peace - feel they had zero good options.
And yes they're still saying it.
we learned nothing from Vietnam....the war I protested in 1969 Berkeley.

(4,516 posts)We thought we could teach people about the futility of wars like the one we were in. Some people like you already knew that but most people back then wanted nothing to do with us.
Today they treat us like we were players in some game and they say ra ra for our side thank you for participating.

But of course if I tell you why I'll be blocked from the thread.
Needless to say I disagree.

(2,297 posts)They are mildly mildly concerned. Certainly enough to mention it. But not enough to displace more social stories. Or fake news about KJ possibly defecting. My sense is that they are a lot less concerned about war with North Korea than the West.
Isn't that concerned either btw.
It's mostly just the same ol' America paranoia kicking back in.

(14,853 posts)If they repeatedly ignore inaccuracies from FOX News and similar sources, they've basically embraced lies.
I suspect that many of them are so enamored by the idealistic fantasies and promises that "anything goes" to get there -- i.e., the ends justify the means.

Kim Jong-un Opens Glitzy High-Rise Street in Pyongyang
By Lee Yong-soo | April 14, 2017 09:57
Big letters

North Korea on Thursday hastily rounded up 200 foreign reporters in Pyongyang to observe the opening of Ryomyong Street, an avenue of glitzy high-rise apartments.
Reporters at first thought they were expected to cover a missile launch or military parade but found themselves confronted with nothing more dramatic than leader Kim Jong-un cutting the ribbon on the prestige project, where loyal members of the elite are to be housed.
The reporters, who are visiting the North for the 105th birthday of nation founder Kim Il-sung on Saturday, had been told to prepare for a "big and important event," but not even their minders knew what that was.

(2,297 posts)No boilers, hot water in apartments is geothermal?
After seeing him at the ceremony, she said she felt proud we have the greatest Supreme Leader in the world.
Ordinary North Koreans usually express only officially-sanctioned views when questioned by foreign news organisations.
Personnel from North Koreas army among the largest in the world by numbers are regularly deployed on construction projects, where they are known as soldier builders.
To implement thoroughly the order of the Supreme Commander we worked all day and all night, said Lt-Col Kim Pyong-Ho, who worked on the 70-storey tower.
Staff say its hot water system is geothermal, and was not switched on for the opening ceremony.
