The DCCC barely lifted a finger to help James Thompson. He almost won anyway. This article is from one of our guys in Wisconsin. And when we had the recall here, Obama famously said he would put his boots on and get signatures with us. But nothing. In the end the national DEMs left us to die, he said it was too partisan. The story of our party, sadly..Now, for Kansas:
National Democrats? Not so much. An election-eve story by CNN, headlined GOP cavalry heads to Kansas ahead of close House election, noted, The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is not spending money on this race at all, and even the Kansas State Democratic Party rejected Thompsons requests for funding for mailers.
The DCCC made some last-minute calls, and a lot of excuses. There were even those who suggested that the strategy was to fly under radarapparently missing the fact that Republican radar detected what was happening and mobilized at precisely the point when Democrats could have and should have moved money and attention to the race.
Thompson suggested that the tepid level of DC Democratic engagement with the Kansas race reflected establishment thinking.

(79 posts)How is this name calling helping unify anyone? No one knows that Thompson would have won even if they threw $50 grand his way. The DCCC may or may not be using the money wisely.
We need to see who the recipients are and why they chose them and look into the accounting instead of throwing insults. Just because they raise millions of dollars doesn't necessarily mean they have it to spend. They have to be smart about financing and targeting. How much debt do they hold, for instance?

(13,566 posts)It's about party building. At the very least fund GOTV efforts so you can get democrats and those sympathetic to whoever we run engaged for future races, instead of blowing millions of dollars on ineffective ad buys.

I've worked on many GOTV efforts, and it takes volunteers more than money to make it work. The campaign was begging for phone bank volunteers during the final 48 hours, and it was through Hubdialer so anyone from anywhere could have been making the calls.
When I checked the election day GOTV RSVP numbers on Thompson's website, there was a grand total of 17 people who had committed. That's pretty disheartening, and many could have done more.
It's not too late to help out in Georgia.
