Trump family Secret Service costs piling up: report

$35,185 on golf cart rentals in Palm Beach County, Florida. $64,000 for "elevator services" at Trump Tower. $4,029.85 for Eric Trump's limousines in Dublin. $700,000 for every Air Force One round trip to Mar-a-Lago.

CBS News is keeping track of Secret Service costs for President Donald Trump and his family's travels, and reports that the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office is working on it own research.

The president's sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, have made multiple international trips related to properties owned by the Trump Organization, according to the report. Secret Service protection has accompanied them each time.

Secret Service costs for Trump family protection continue to mount
With Eric Trump’s trip to the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland this week, the international hotel and car rental costs for the Secret Service agents who protect him and his brother Donald Trump Jr. have topped $190,000 since January 1st, according to a review of purchasing orders by CBS News.

All of those bills are paid by taxpayers.

Documents for Eric Trump’s trip this week to Dublin show that $4,029.85 was spent on limousines for his visit and $11,261 to cover the hotel costs of the Secret Service agents who protect him.

“The Trump family’s frequent travel to international destinations purely to promote the Trump family business is burning through taxpayer dollars at an unprecedented rate and stretching the Secret Service increasingly thin,” said Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

From the CBS news site that was paid back in December 2016. So those charges aren't current.

Meet the Trump Tower gatekeeper

Retired Admiral James Stavridis (L), dean of Fletcher School at Tufts University is escorted by Madeleine Westerhout as he arrives at Trump Tower on December 8, 2016 in New York.

New York (CNN)She's arguably the most photographed woman in Trump Tower. Yet no one knows her name.

Known as "elevator girl" or "Trump Tower girl," Madeleine Westerhout has appeared in the background of countless images and video from the lobby of President-elect Donald Trump's offices, escorting the transition's VIPs from the door and up the elevators.

The polished brunette's face has been everywhere, from newspapers to websites to television, as she quietly whisks in the President-elect's guests.

To the press pool gathered in the lobby, Westerhout appearing at the elevator bay is a sign that someone important is about to arrive, sending cameras into ready position.

Another purchase order showed a charge of $64,000 for “Elevator services- Trump Tower” in December 2016. A Secret Service official told CBS News that “elevator inspection is one of many protective operational measures utilized by the Secret Service.”

18. Trump Should Pay For the Limousine
Fri Apr 14, 2017, 10:34 PM
Apr 2017

The Trump family should pay for the cost of the limousine service. Any personal service for Donald Trump's adult children should be paid for by the Trump family. His sons are definitely not performing government business. Therefore, the Trump family should bare the costs that come with that travel.
