Of course I would blame Trump but much blame lies at the feet of the infotainment that passes as news these days, more reality TV than informative. While vestiges of respectable journalism still exist, in the main stream it has died on the vine. What has replaced it does more harm than good. One indeed could make a good argument that Trump is just a cancerous outgrowth of modern news broadcasting. They birthed their own chimaeric beast upon which they feed. Trump hates journalists, which is rather comical considering he's likely never had to face any real hard hitting ones. But he has a down right torrid love affair with the media. Anything that puts his name up there in bright shinning lights.
And Trump has just learned that one way to make his obedient infotainment "news" media lap dogs praise him is to drop lots of big bombs. Cause now he looks downright "presidential". Because that's what presidents do right? They push red buttons and get foreigners killed. Finally he's looking like a big boy.
This is a horribly dangerous lesson he has learned. And a horribly dangerous precident the "media" is setting up. They are going to stroke his ego all the way to ground zero.

It's seriously fucked up how they did a 180 on Trump once the weapons started flying. The major 24 hour news channels always have the best ratings and make the most money when America get's its war on. The upper management still live in fear of being blamed for losing our next Vietnam war.
What scares me is what it would take to get the news media to not love war, and not live in fear of the Pentagon. I don't see that happening pain-free.

(2,037 posts)The fawning way many (not all) of them describe any military action - particularly the sight of anything exploding - is a testament to that. This complicity was probably at its worst and most widespread (even msnbc reveled in it) during Dubya's invasion of Iraq.
The consequences don't seem to matter when all you can think of is your career and any possible book deals.
